I too as an American am pulling for the USA to win the medal count and based on some limited knowledge I think we might. First, Michael Phelps is a beast and is vying for 8 golds i think, and he is good for at least 4. Also USA Basketball should win gold if everyone plays to 40% of their ability because if you have Kobe, D Wade, Melo, Dwight Howard, and Lebron on one team you could probably win an NBA Championship let alone the Olympics. So my vote goes for the USA.

Amen to TEAM USA basketball. With the talent we send, they should never lose. they have been a disgrace lately comapred to the Jordan days when other countries got lucky to only lose by 50! I think Kobe and company will pound a few countries this year en route to a gold. Phelps is the man, too!

I am an American, but my vote doesn't go to the US out of patriotism alone. I think we'll kick butt in swimming, gymnastics, track, soccer, and softball. We are always in the top medaling countries, at least lately. I'm excited for the Olympics. I got cable back just in time.

Not sure about soccer, but the rest we should do well in. Men's basketball should be an easy one, too. Enjoy your cable tv and the olympics

With every Olympics I " Root, root, root for the home team. If they don't win it a shame." So It will be China. I see the U.S. in second place.

I think it was the strength of their gymnastics team is the reason they got the bid to host this year. They are hard to beat.

Although I want to US to win the most, I don't think that they will. China is a good bet.

Also being an American I would have to give my patriotic vote to the USA to win,but when it comes to athletics it could be anyones game, even though I am still hoping that the USA wins I also think that countries like China have a good chance of winning, and I am not sure which country won last year, but whoever won last year has a strong chance of winning again this year.

though im sure china would have the most number of athletes i'm pretty sure the americans will outnumbered them in gold medals.
but i don't mind if what country has the most number of medals
what important to me is our country would get its first gold medal ever ;)

Considering the U.S. has won the most Summer Olympic medals for approximately 5,421,146,586,546 consecutive Olympiads, I'd say that's probably a good bet.

Yeah, they're pretty good. Phelps and Coughlin should be big in swimming, and they should pick up some in basketball and track and field, too.

I am not an American, but I would grant that US is generally is the best. So I would vote for it. My feeling is that China will come second. Russia may come third!

Forgot about Russia. They are usually near the top in medals, too. It should be exciting. What country are you from?

Of course you have to give it to the USA. We have the greatest prospects that any country has in all sports. It could be swimming or track and field the USA brings the strongest most competitive field to Beijing.

I agree that we have great athletes, but I am not sure we have the best prospects in all of sports. There are a lot of great athletes all over the world. It will be a fun Olympics to watch.
