do you tend to make meal plans for yourself/your family, or do you just wing it every day and eat whatever you feel like eating?
i have a pretty organized system in place where i plan meals (breakfasts, lunches, and suppers) for one week at a time. i then go to the grocery store and buy everything i need for those meals. it helps me save money on groceries, and it cuts down on the amount of food we waste, thus helping the environment.
what are your money saving secrets related to grocery shopping?
i buy in bulk when possible, and i center my weekly meals around cuts of meat/veggie options that are on sale that week. i have a large stock pile of nonperishables in my pantry..mostly ingredients that i use in my recipes, and snack foods. i love having the stockpile because it makes me feel secure in that if there is ever a time that i don't have enough money for food, i will have this to fall back on for some time!

i usually don't plan my meals. I eat what is prepared on the table. And if I eat out, I decide only then and there what to eat.. =)

When we don't plan meals we go out to eat a ridiculous amount of the time. When we have a plan we go out a lot less... but we will still go out even with a plan. Willpower is in short supply at our house.
