Saviour-V teleports in, with a bowl of ice-cream with a few apple slices in it...
....and, I'm currently wondering how I can improve on this. About a month ago, there was a tub of vanilla ice cream, courtesy of Mum, and I thought that I could make my serving special by adding something to it.
So, I took a green apple, and halved, quartered, and eighted it (making halves out of the apple quarters), and added them to my bowl of ice cream. It was good, but I feel it deserves more to make it a very nice treat.
Saviour-V munches on an apple piece...
Therefore, I'm looking for either whole recipes including those two ingredients, or additions to my original dessert. myLotters, I want you guys to make me a MASTERPIECE!
I look forward to your ideas, ladies and gents.

That's interesting. I've never even thought about eating ice cream with apples. Green apples are the best to add to this recipe. How about some warmed up and melted chocolate or caramel to add to it. Then maybe you can add some chocolate chips or nuts to it. That would add some texture. I really like this idea. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm, warmed up chocolate's a good idea...and the nuts are a nice touch...but I'm thinking a few raisins would also provide some flavour.
But how do you bring out the flavour of green apples short of caramelizing them, anyway? I'm wondering if it's possible to make something that is full of flavour, and full of texture, without too much time spent cooking.
Saviour-V strokes his chin, thoughtfully...
Thing is, when Mum made her mixed-oat muffins, they tasted great with some raisins and nuts in them, but when I ate those muffins while I was munching on a green apple, there was a rather interesting flavour to them.
I'm trying to see how far I can take this. 3 ingredients will make the concoction good, but are there far better combinations? And by the way, I'm not much of a good cook, although I'm a good eater. But I could take these recipes and experiment with them a bit, I'm sure.

Thanks for pondering my ideas, lol. To enhance the flavor of the apple you could have them soak in apple juice? lol, I don't know. Or try lemon juice, maybe. I don't know much about cooking either. Play around with some stuff. Who knows, you might end up with two or three recipes.

Yes, I do think lemon juice would work. It also helps prevent slices of apple from browning like they can tend to do. Okay, my recipe is as follows:
Slice the apple as you did before and squeeze maybe just a quarter of a lemon onto it. I wouldn't soak them in lemon juice, as this may overtake the apple flavor, which is not at all what you want to do. Plus, I don't think you'd want a lot of lemon flavor in vanilla icecream, but that's just my opinion. Then, maybe sprinkle some powdered cinnamon onto the apple slices and kind of stir them up.
Now crush up a small handful of peanuts. I would imagine just enough to fit in the palm of your hand without being piled up and falling out being sufficient.
Next, melt some caramel in a microwave-safe dish in the microwave. I believe you can buy some from most grocery stores that come in a microwave-safe container, so just follow the directions on there. I wouldn't want to advise you of how long to warm it, considering that all microwaves act differently, and I wouldn't want to be responsible for you burning your caramel.
While the caramel is melting, scoop out your preferred amount of vanilla icecream into a bowl and put the apple slices on top. By this time, the caramel should be done melting I would imagine. So take it out and drizzle the desired amount onto your icecream/apple combination with a spoon (whatever spoon you plan on devouring this masterpiece with). Then sprinkle a small handful (probably about the same amount you used for the crushed peanuts) of raisins on top of that.
Lastly, sprinkle the crushed peanuts on top.
There, now you've probably worked up a bit of a sweat, so you'll want to cool down by eating this marvelous sounding dessert!

Hmmmm, not entirely too healthy, but I see what you're getting at - Mum usually does the same with the apples used in her apple pies.
Might be worth a look, when I get the chance. Any other ideas? Perhaps with more fruits in them? ^_^;;

Apples and cinnamon, eh? Sticks or powdered cinnamon? Spice seems to be missing from the current equation here.
OK, at this point, we have the following suggestions:
1. Vanilla ice cream + caramelized green apple slices.
2. Vanilla ice cream + green apple slices + some cinnamon (powdered, I think).
3. Vanilla ice cream + green apple slices + melted chocolate or caramel.
All said and done, there's got to be something better here. Maybe more fruit might help, if you're aiming for a healthy dessert, or, if you don't care much about your figure, going the sweet and spicy route might do it.
Some experimenting's in order here.
