the thing is that 90 per cent users who have used vista are not happy with it. So definitely they do not prefer to have it as their operating system. i.e. have seen most of the companies and even institutes are still using xp as their operating system. This clearly shows that the latest version has failed to get popularity in any sector of the market. But then we hardly have a choice about which operating system will be preinstalled on our computers because Microsoft is signing a deal with almost all leading manufacturers and that is the reason why you get whisper as your default operating system. They are constantly exploiting their monopoly to promote their products. And I am sure there will be a time when the new computers with latest hardware is won't be given providing you with older version drivers for your hardware which will compel you to use the latest version of Microsoft operating system and we will be forced to do that because we never have a choice. This is the reason why I personally feel there should be a competition between two companies on the operating system. Apple being not so famous in India is the big problem here. Whenever someone has a monopoly he will exploit it. Regards Amitav Roy http://www.creativeporta.com

But they do so because XP is outdated. But we think alike, I don't think everything should be Vista now.Computer shops should have an option to keep it XP because XP is cheaper, so it cuts down the cost. And Vista has a lot of compatibility issues. It's like having a PS3, the framework of PS2 is different from PS3 so the only thing you can do for backwards compatibility is emulation, and the main reason they cut off the backwards compatibility. In the issue of Vista, not every software is compatible to in now because it is built using a different framework, I think. So to free the consumers of the compatibility issues, they should like put an option for XP, or Linux because it's free.

Recently, when I went for a survey for buying a laptop, I was so amazed to find that none are selling Windows XP......all are loaded with VISTA!! I agree to what you said. They should have waited..

I think this is water over the bridge because MS stop selling winXP since end of June. PC nowadays are able to run Vista so this is something we just have to swallow.

I don't like vista. My computer is installed with vista the first time I bought it. I uninstalled it and install it again with my old XP. why should they force us to use vista? It isn't compatible with some of my favourite games
