My husband got me a laptop for my last January for our anniversary and now I do most of my writing on it. But sometimes, its not easy to take with me on the road so I often take a school style notebook or my daily planner that has blank lined paper in it. I find that I don't enjoy writing that way anymore now that I have my laptop.
What is your favorite way to write and where do you like to do your writing?

I wish I had a laptop or even a more portable word processing gadget so I didn't have to sit here at my computer when I want to write but don't need to be on the internet. I have a desktop and do all of my work right here, and sometimes I'd like to just write without all the other distractions (I've always got several tabs open here, multitasking), and maybe on the couch in front of TV or something.
I am writing for Associated Content and sometimes it's hard to do when I'm doing other things instead of focusing on the article I should be working on.

Heheh.. I find it very hard to watch TV and work on an article or write at the same time. Do whatever you can to save up for a laptop, Lady Jarhead. As you can see from the others, it's wonderful. :)

My favourite way of writing just has to be on my laptop too,if I go back to writing on paper with a pen lol it doesnt seem quite right, but we are getting lazy ,I only started to use a computer five years ago,but saying that I often used a word processor, and that very quickly became outdated, but no the laptop comes first for me everytime.

I couldn't agree with you more, Ruby. I feel the same way. I really love my new laptop for writing even more than using pen and paper.

I agree with you leafygreen.........infact now if I try to write with pen or pencil on paper or in the notebook my fingers laterally pain and I find it difficult to write in good handwriting, also if I make a mistake there is no delete button.....lol....so it is either rubbing with eraser or start over all again, so you see I prefer fast typing on PC.....you have delete button, you have spell checking, you have save option........ and much more.....so I would prefer writing on PC.

My husband just recently got me a laptop also. I love typing to write, but I also like writing longhand too. Anyway is good for me. But I found out I can go a longer amount of time when I'm typing because my hands don't get as tired as when I'm writing longhand. But both ways are good for me.

I always write everything down in a note book and then I transfer it onto the computer when I am ready too. I still love to write and so I always have a pen and book near to hand. I like to see my writing in front of me when I want instead of having to go through the computer.

Ever since I bought my first electric typewriter, which had a screen and allowed me to edit and change what I wrote, I never wanted to go back to writing on paper. For me, writing by hand always involves too much crossing out, screwing up and throwing away.
I've been using a keyboard for my writing for years now. I am a touch typist so I never need to look at the keys or think about the act of typing. I just think of the words and they appear on the screen before me. Then I can delete, add, edit, move things around, change words and rewrite as much as I want.
I used to have a desktop computer, but I like my laptop better than using a detached keyboard. I can type very quickly and accurately on the laptop.
When I go out I carry a small notebook for making notes, or for putting down ideas so I don't forget them. At home I use the back of envelopes to make lists or to make a note of key points. My work table is covered with old envelopes, and I also have a big desk diary and a small pocket diary which I use for notes and reminders.

Gosh! I do envy your skill, Paid2write. Although I still use a laptop, I still have to look down at the keys now and then because I misplace them on the home keys and then I start type junk. I need to stop being so dependent on looking down on the keyboard so it doesn't affect my mental flow.

Nothing beats a pen and a notebook. And I haven't found any certain palce that is better for me than others. I too like to use my laptop, but that is usually only after I have done some pre-writing in a notebook.

I also have a laptop and love it. I got it in January too! Small world, huh? I write in a journal, also for several freelance sites, and am a member of a writing community. I write in my room on my bed.

it would depend on what I am writing.
for diaries I prefer the old school method of paper/booklet actually and pen. I need something tangable for that and would be a very bad blogger!
For story writing i would use a laptop because it allows me easier to insert new bits of text without have glue them in between. Also rewriting things is easier on a computer. plus you can keep multiple versions of the same story so you can go back and put a "deleted" section right back in.
But overall, I am very found of paper and pen.

I totally agree with the freedom you get having a PC or laptop for story writing. It's so easy to edit or add to your content without having to cross out line after line of text.
I look at my notebooks and find them so messy because I changed my mind and had to cross out lines. But such notebooks are so portable at times. I get the normal cheap school style books that are eash to carry in your totebag or case. No need to look for a wi-fi location or a plug for electricity. Just keep a pen or pencil in your purse and you are ready to jot what you to whenever you can.

I do it both on paper and on the computer. Usually for my literary works back at high school I used to have like 5 notebooks for writing. Now I often do it on the computer, because most of the time I'm in front of the computer.

5 notebooks! I am now doing much the same. I tried using blank books but they were so pretty and I hated to write junk on such beautiful books. heheh... so now I just buy the cheap school type notebooks for a dollar or the composition books. Then I feel better about making mistakes or notes or whatever.

Personally, I despise computers as a note-taking tool. It's not because of my typing speed (I'm pretty fast), but due to the lack of physical... presence. I prefer to use plain pen and paper because it gives me a sense of finality. I actually then have the physical paper to take around with me, instead of waiting on a slow computer or virus ridden hard drive.

Well, I hate writing too.. I like to use a notepad or a word to note things in a computer than literally write it down.By the way, I have a very lousy handwriting. If i need to write something then i would rather get someone else to do it for me.

I enjoy writing the old fashioned way with a pad and pen or pencil. Although the convenience of the laptop and computer is undeniable, I enjoy doodling while thinking and scratching through things I change my mind on. I like to see the body of my work as I write it and somehow get a better grasp on what I'm doing. I don't know why, but I am just able to write better that way.

I write on my laptop. I prefer it to be on a sturdy desk. I don't like to use the laptop on my lap as it gets hot.
I like to have my own personal laptop. But, my teenagers think anything their parents own is theirs, too! lol

Generally, I also write in my pc; when I feel happy or feel sad, I will open pc and type my feeling with smile or in tears....
when I am out of home or office and wanna writing, I just keeping thinking and thinking... without a note book at all
