I can cook, but still with the help of a cookbook. My dad just guides me everytime I need help in the kitchen.

As a child I was always in my mums kitchen watching what she was doing, although I loved licking out the bowl when mum made cakes and I tried my hand at making cakes it was fun, messy but fun and you pick things up quickly when you are young, mums are the best for teaching you how to cook and you pick up lots of good recipes, some recipes which are passed through from generation to generation.

Necessity was a great teacher. Everyone in my family learned to cook because our mother was a horrible cook. If we wanted it to be edible, we had to make it ourselves. All of us wound up with a wonderful ability to cook anything once we've tasted it! That might have been why we could do it well from the start. All of us have, at various times, even taught courses in gourmet cooking! When our father retired, he took over all the cooking.

My mother taught me how to cook. Plus I took cooking for 2 years in school. And now I use cooking books for things I want to try. I taught my children how to cook.

My mom taught me alot about cooking as did my grandmothers.
I also watched the cooking shows that came on when I was young ( The Galloping Gourmet, Julia Child and Yan Can Cook)
I also learned by reading recipies and cookbooks, trying out whatever sounded good.
I have learned different things from different people, I love to share recipies as well as get new ones.
Cookbooks are great and sometimes 'tweaking' recipies to your taste turns out to be good.
Happy Cooking ! Have a good night.
