Hi Friends! Please let me know your consensus on the matter. What do you think is the common reason why people are leaving their companies? Is it about the pay, or about the working condition in the office, about a terrible boss or about fastidious office mates, or what??? I have seen people come and go from one company to another and even I myself has done such. Personally, I would consider working condition as a culprit why employees transfer to other companies. This is because if a person is not anymore comfortable in the workplace, this would trigger complaints which somehow creates a domino effect of problems in the organization. You can see that your boss is unkind and inconsiderate, or your office mates are selfish, or even the idea of you wasting your time in a job that's paying very little. But if one is contented and happy in her workplace, no matter how many storms she'd passed by or the odds she's about to encounter, she would surely beat them and be victorious at the end, for the sake of her work.

Lets face it, work sucks. Humans are not meant to do the same thing for 50 years and then die. A change of scenery is great and a much needed refresher. Regardless if they are doing the same job with another company. Since most companies are not giving pensions or and form of retirement there is no incentive for an employee to stay with one company.

People who are leaving their present job is not satisfied anymore with their salary or their work. Or maybe the working environment is not safe.

I think its the environment. If the workplace is good fit, and the employee is contented they will remain even if they might be able to make more money someplace else.

there are many reasons. for me first it will be the pay. we work for money and what come in pocket at the end of month really matters. also the location sometimes influences the jib change. then the environment, the work culture etc are the parameters

well there are many reasons i think. some leave because of the pay, some because they long for better opportunities and career advancement or better challenges, and some because of the bad work environment / colleague / boss, i guess. i think ppl leave because at some point they think they're not happy or can do better outside at another company.

There is really a long list of reasons why people leave companies. In general, it could be health, it could be personal like moving to another place or going abroad, it could be the pay or compenstation, it could be the working environment, it could be emotional, it could be physical stress as well, it could be a co-worker, or it could be management or office politics. There are even lots of specific instances per example I gave. But more often that not, it is usually when an employee loses the drive and motivation to work. If not managed and uncontrolled, it could really lead to severe stress and burnout. It takes a lot to overcome these walls that hinder us to move on. It is a test of character to get past breaking points. It oftentimes help to be happy and contented (to a reasonable level ^_^).

I have been laid off, actually I am laid off now, but in all of my working life, I had never left a job, until 2007. I did the payroll at a Hospice. It was a very stressful job. All employees started off with five weeks vacation. Since payroll was every 2 weeks, part of each week I had to concentrate on getting the payroll ready for pay day. I was not able to take all of my vacation, since I could not take one whole week off. I had no back up. Whenever a holiday fell on a payroll week, meaning the holiday falls on Monday, I had to work on Saturday, therefore, i very rarely had a 3 day holiday week end. My boss did not believe in paying overtime, so whenever I worked extra hours, I had to take comp time, I would much rather have the money. I could go on and on. some of my reasons for leaving were: Not enough time off Overload, no back up Pay Jerk for a boss

There is a high turnover at my workplace. Most of the workers left due to bad management, low salary and bad working conditons. You are right about contended people and they would be happy no matter how many storms passed by until they get retrenched or retired. As for me I am planning to be self employed and I prefer to work for myself than to work for others.

For me i can say that money was the first one i consider to be the factor that one changes a company, second was the workplace i mean if the workplace is far or near your house or apartment.I can relate to it co'z now i'm thinking of leaving the company i've worked for about 3 years.I would have gone that far if i'm not happy with what i'm earning and if it is not too far from my house.Yesterday i've got to talk to our boss regarding some matters. And suddenly they've told me that they will be taking me to different departmen or branch. Before i used to go to our branch just 30 mins. away from our house, but now i think it would take 2 1/2 hours to my workplace. It gives me a headache to think that i could almost spend half of my earnings just for my allowance!!!Now i'm thinking of leaving, but i love my work but what must i do to survive this?I have a daughter and she's studying.I think its really the salary and the place of work.

I agree, money and work place are a big factor on why people are resigning in their company. Money is one big motivator for people. And with regards to work place.. well, you will be working in that environment everyday. It will be hard to work when you are not comfortable with your environment. It will be like torture everyday. But other than that, I have thought of different reasons why people leave their company. A lot of people are resigning in our company just now. And I will be joining them soon. Besides money and work place.. 1. No more Growth. People still like to grow in their field, I want to grow in my field. If one feel that he/she is no longer growing, one can get really bored with what they are doing. 2. Lack of appreciation. Sometimes you work so hard, doing overtimes most of the time and then they will just tell you that you have no bonus or overtime pay; Or probably your promotion takes soo long, or little increase in salary etc I will add later if I can think of more reasons, I have to be going now.. will mylot again later :)
