It's My Birthday and I am Home Alone.. Sad =(

Sigh~ In another 3 hours, it would be my birthday, but I am home alone. =( I am so sad that none of my friends bothered to spare some time for me on this special day! We were supposed to meet today for some activities but at the very last minute, everybody cancelled the appointment. I had no idea why.
Even my boyfriend who is in Malaysia could not even bother to take leave to celebrate my birthday with me as he was worried that his boss would be alone. Then, what about me? I am also alone!
This is my first year celebrating my birthday by myself and it is so lonely and depressing. Friends are too preoccupied with their boyfriends/girlfriends that they just cannot be bothered with me.
Sometimes, I had no idea why I bother. Why I bother to make free time in order to celebrate their birthdays with them, why did I bother to be there for them when they are down in a rough patch. But, why is it that no one could be with me on this special day.
I know I am ranting, but I just can't help it. Feeling rather down at this moment. I guess as we grow older, bonds between friends just gets further and further as all of us lead our separate busy lives, to the very extent that no one could be bothered with the others.
I remember my younger days whereby birthdays are the special occasion whereby the birthday girl/boy gets the special treatment for the day. In a blink of an eye, that special moment is all but gone.
Even my boyfriend cannot be bothered with me, preferring to be worried about his boss instead. Sigh~~ Why must things turn out to be like this as we grow older?

I could understand how you miss the people on your birthday!!! But i think this birthday has been fixed for you to celebrate with MYLOTTING. I do tell you make a different birthday today by selecting two best friends of mYLOT and have a newer birthday in different style. Miss is what we think, Gift is what we have. You have GIFT today and greater wish from a stranger.

I wish you a very happy birthday, angelia. :) Believe me, if I lived close by, I would have turned up with a cake and a bunch of roses. But, I am miles away. :)
I understand the feelings, though I never celebrate my birthday. Nobody is specially happy I was born.. tee hee.. not a rant, truth! And so, I never remember my birthday, unless some idiot reminds me. Since I grow a day older everyday, I consider everyday to be my birthday. I don't have any friends, so they don't call. Luckily, I have neither husband nor boyfriend; otherwise, I might have felt miserable that they did not remember my birthday. When I was married, he never remembered any good day. The only person who can't forget my birthday is my Mom and I get a card from her. She never misses, bless her! Otherwise, my birthday is just like any other day. I work, cook, Mylot, and so on and so on.
And well, things don't have to turn out that way just coz you are older. A lady in my neighborhood turned sixty recently. And they booked a hall and had a grand party. In India, turning sixty is a great thing. It is an important milestone. It is called "shatabdi."
You can still have a great day, alone! Watch a nice movie; order your favorite dish; listen to music and dance to it; watch the moon (if it is visible); read a nice book; or just give yourself a nice treat.

Thanks girl! It really means a lot for me coming from you. (You had posted in a few of my discussion and I remember you =o)) And I don't doubt that you would really do it if you were staying in Singapore or I am staying in your country. Lol. Well, one can always dream.
Why would nobody be happy that you were born? I am pretty sure that every single parents in the world love their own children, yours included! Haha, mum is always great, there for us when we need them the most right? I believe I would be receiving money in a red packet from my mum again. Hehe. I can't wait. i just love presents..
About your neighbour, she must be a really nice lady to have so many people turn up for her birthday bash! I am not sure if I would enjoy that sort of party when I turned sixty! Hopefully, i am well liked enough to have like 100 over people attending it. Hehe, I am greedy ain't I?
Thanks for all your suggestions! I'm sure I would enjoy my day even if it's alone, and yes, I can do everything that you had suggested. Hehe. The ranting on mylot had got my unhappiness out of my system, and I could not help but feel excited about the day when it's time to wake up 6 hours later!!

Now, I am really sorry to know that you are alone in this moment when you would have loved to have as much company as you could. I know life is not always fair to us. But its in our hand to make the most of whats available. So why not celebrate your birthday with all your online friends and the whole of you- mind body and soul. Cook some good food and get some ice cream, cake and sweets. make it a great party with yourself.

Thanks =) I'm sure I would have a blast of a time, regardless of whether or not there are people to accompany me! Hehe.. ranting on mylot and having a group of mylot friends to listen really helps in lifting up my mood! I should hang out here more often and interact with my online friends.

I can't tell you how many birthdays I've spent alone without even a card or phone call from anyone.
Rather than be down about it, be grateful that you've been given another day here in which to enjoy this wonderful world we live in.

Believe me, I struggle with depression and feeling alone all the time, doesn't matter what day it is.

I know that I should be thankful that I am still alive when there are so many who die everyday from a natural disaster and such. It's just that it was the first year that this type of matter had happened, and I was so disappointed when I first learnt about it so much that I just had to rant to get it out of my system.
But, I would have to say that i am very thankful to have mylot and its members here to spend my birthday with me. The comments that were left behind by my online friends really touched and warmed my heart, such that I know that even when I am alone, I am not exactly alone. There is still Mylot!!
It's really great that you are not bothered by this type of matters and choose to live your life positively. I am still trying to do that in my life. Anyway, thanks for the birthday wish!! =)

So sorry you are alone, Happy Birthday. I do not care how old we get it is nice to have someone remember our birthday. As each year passes we have changes in our life and one way to mark these changes is by remembering birthdays, One year I remember my birthday because I spent the day with my Dad in the emergency room. We have many things go on and maybe your friends forgot all about the birthday and will remember later and will call you . I am really bad at remembering birthdays. I try to call and let them know I did finally remember. Maybe your boyfriend felt that it was important to his job that he stay with his boss.

It's always nice to have someone remember our birthdays no matter how old we are. Of course, it means more to us as we get older as it seems to indicate that we are still special in other people's hearts.
Hopefully, I do get calls later on. I'm crossing my fingers for that. Hehe.

I am sorry you feel this way in your birthday.I know how hard to be alone.But you can make it special by yourself.Go out and reward yourself for this is your special day.Go to your favorite place,go shopping for yourself or do anything that make you happy.Cheer up!Happy happy birthday and many more to come.Take care!BTW,don't you have any family to celebrate with?

Don't be sad. use the time to reflect on your life and what you have accomplished at this mile stone. Make plans about what you want to accomplish by the next Birthday and that might include making some new friends. As we grow older, birthdays are really not as important to the rest of the world. However, if you are a person that is excitied about these things be sure to surround yourself with others who feel the same way. Somtimes when we are feeling emotional things seem so huge and over whelming.. Tommorrow the sun will come out and you will feel better. Buy yourself a new outfit! It always makes me feel better.

Hehe, thank you for your wishes! My mood had really improved the first time today. I will surely do that and it can be sure that I will no longer be alone next year!! Even if I am alone physically, it just makes me realise that I will never be alone, as I have all of you Myloters who will just be with me. And for that, I am thankful =)

Hey don't feel bad I was on house arrest on my birthday, only one of my buddies stopped by. It's alright I was with my family so that made it somewhat better, i just wanted to go party

It's a bummer when we could not celebrate and do what we wish to on our birthdays! You must have really felt very lonely and frustrated to be under house arrest when all you wanted to do is to go out and party!! I understand how you feel on this point.

My gosh! You son would be all alone on his birthday! How bad that could be? Well perhapes you could send in a letter? At least, to let him know that he is not forgotten! That is better than nothing! My family doesn't make a big deal out of my birthday either,i went out to eat with my my daughter and Mom and Dad and i got a couple of cards from friends and my sister and brother but no one else seem to care even when i have called or sent them a card in the past.I disowned my mom side of the family because i was it always seem that i was the only one staying in touch with them,so i quit talking to them.Let them pick up the phone and call me there fingers aren't broke or so i think.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! When I was single, there were many times that I wished I was alone at my birthday... I was born on January First... I'd get invited to a new year party & without a fail, somebody would scream, "happy birthday, new year boy!!!" Then everybody at the party would make some sort of comment & wouldn't leave me alone... Sometimes I felt like just finding a small corner of the place & park myself there all night & have some private time to myself... As I got older, I just stopped going to those new years party for that reason... I just wanted to be alone on my birthdays... Now I have few good friends & they all know this... Now they all make a point to leave me alone on my birthdays unless I call them... Even my girl friend takes my daughter out for the day on my birthdays... She comes back in the evening & we have "my" birthday dinner... We just spend the day as if it's just a new years day, not my birthday... They get me little things as gifts but that's about it... Point here is, it's ok to be alone on your birthdays... May be you can take this time to reflect on your past year & think of things you can do to make the coming year a better one for yourself, instead of counting on other people to make you feel better... You are special no matter who tells you what... Hope you know that...

Thanks for sharing your story with me! It must be a tough period of time to be born on Jan 1st, which happens to be New Year Day. I could understand the need for some personal space if that happened to me too!
Thanks too for all of your encouragement and advices. By ranting on Mylot, it had made myself feel much better and I was actually smiling at the end of the day, and I actually celebrated my birthday by myself! I guess it is theraupitical by being alone once in a while. it's a peace that one could not experienced in a huge bunch of people.

Maybe, they are planning a surprise party for you. Maybe they wanted you to think that everyone had forgotten about you.
I am sure they will come around, since you said that your birthday was three hours away, so it isn't officially your birthday. Wait until your birthday is actually here and see what happens.

Haha! Thanks for the birthday cake and the birthday wishes from you! I just had to smile at that too! What a long way that cake has been through! Wahha =)
Anyway, an update is that my friends can't be bothered with me, and I ended up spending my birthday alone! But, it was not as bad as it seems to be as acting on all of your encouragement and advices, I went out and do the things I lvoe to do.. and it was as good as it gets.
Things finally looked up 1 day after my birthday! Though belated, my boyfriend did went to the trouble by travelling 12 hours through the night from Malaysia to Singapore just to wish me happy birthday and pass me my present! I feel really blessed to have him as my boyfriend!
I am happy and blessed too to have people like you as my online friends on Mylot! Take care =)
