I am aware of Housing Authority.. But, I would like to know what other programs that will assist me in paying for my rent? Are there any grant programs that will give me money? I live in Sumter, South Carolina.. I just need for someone to tell me what is available to me.. I need the help.. I would like to get my own apartment this month. I desperately need it!

Yes, there are programs that will help you with housing, food, utility bills and education. In each area, the name may be different but it is the welfare system. Section 8 housing, Federal Family Assistance, etc. are some of the names you should look for in the phone book. Most of these types of assistance are located in your county. There will be some paperwork to fill out. You will get help with housing, food stamps, financial assistance for utility bills, job search assistance, education assistance if you need to be re-trained so you can re-enter the workforce. They can help with car repairs. They will help you find any grants you may qualify for. Stay Safe, Stand Strong Royal Mom

My daughter was in an abusive situation and the state helped her with her rent and bills for a couple of months. I believe it was through the place that helps with the thing to make him stay away from you that you need to get or you may have already. Also the place for food stamps which she had to get. The people at DCS I believe helped her. I'm not sure just who did pay for everything but they told her to let them know if she nneds anything else. But she got on her feet with them and me helping. Try the local agencies. They do have funds to help with things like that, although they don't let people know this. You have to ask for the help. Best of wishes to you and the children.

I am only aware of housing authority as well. When you talk to them ask them if there is other programs out there to help you get your own place. Have you went to the food stamp and welfare office? They might know of other programs to help you get your self established in your own place.

some churches will help out, but you have to catch them at the first of the month because there funds go fast, go can also go to a cash loan place that will give you a small loan depending on your weekly/month pay check and you pay them back as soon as you get your check, but there's interests.

Hi cream97! I am not from your country and I do not have any idea on how you can seek assistance at the moment. However, I am sure that there will be corresponding agencies that will surely be willing to assist and help you. I am sure that some of our mylotter friends will be able to give you answers. All I can give you my friend is my prayers and wishes for beautiful tomorrows that will soon reign in your life. Take care always..God Bless!

Look into section 8 housing where the government helps you with your rent. You'll certainly qualify! Also look on the net for angel food ministries. They give you about $75 of high quality food for only $30! They probably have a chapter in your town.

Cream, I am so happy to see you here. This is the first I have seen you since you said you had left. I am happy to hear you are on your own. I know things are tough out there, but nothing is worth staying in such a mess. I hope you will be able to find help with your rent and any other thing you need, until you can get on your own two feet. At least by getting a hold of church leaders in your town, or community centers, they will be able to point you in the right direction. Continued luck and best wishes! Stay strong.

Cream, you can start with the County Assistance Office, and they should have references to any organization that can help you. In my previous job, we had something called the "Pink Pages" with the phone numbers and contact names for all of the local churches and social service agencies that can assist with anything. The would probably call it by a different name, but it would be surprising if they didn't have one at all. No matter what you should apply for assistance (if you haven't already). Good luck!
