The World will end on Dec 21, 2012

Anybody else heard this crap? I received an email listing seven reasons why the world is going to end on Dec 21, 2012. It annoyed me because I just cannot leave things that annoy me alone; I have to google it to find out more about it, and that is such a waste of my time.
Of course, I found out where the idiot had copied it from before he decided to disseminate the news to all his friends, who I am sure will in turn forward it to their friends.
Here is the link for you. It is a public forum. Somebody had written a post titled "Seven reasons for the world to end" or something to that effect, and many have responded to it.
http://www.msghelp.net/showthread.php?tid=74463
Now why did this annoy me? For many reasons:
1. It is a beautiful world; so, why should it end just because human beings are stupid?
2. In 1960 (I might have forgotten the exact date), the world was supposed to end. It did not!
3. In 2000, someone wrote a huge article, giving scientific reasons why the world will end in Jan 2000. The mag that printed the stuff sold like hot cakes, but the world has continued to exist.
4. Now 2012?
Gimme a break!! Nothing is permanent in this world; including Mother Earth. But why should we talk about her death? It is such bad manners! Instead, let us try to protect this beautiful earth. It is our home after all, and protecting it from harm is our responsibility. What do you think?
Cheers and happy mylotting

It is mentioned as one of the seven reasons, and it was the poorest reason. It doesn't bother me in the least because I don't trust a single person who wrote the Bible, and I don't believe people who say it is inspired by God.

It is the attitude that irritates me more than anything else. They don't lift their finger to protect the environment, but they predict and spread BS about the world coming to an end. :)
Cheers and thanks for the response.

Well, nobody can predict the end of the world.Only GOD knows
what our future holds. We should not panic on what is being
scattered. Instead, if something like this happened
we need to pray about it. There are more important things
to think about, rather than focussing our minds to this crap.
Its really annoying 'cause it affects people....... you know!
These stupid people are just trying to create fear to everyone.
Let's continue to live a happy life, inspite of! Live life to
the fullest......PRAYERS CAN DO WONDERS..........GOD BLESS!

Well there will always be people who say that the world will end at an exact date..
I think those people are retarted. It looks like they WANT the world to end ...
I, for one, don't and I don't think it will end soon.
But then again those people only need to be right once, don't they...
Personnally I also believe we will be at another world when the world will end, I don't doubt it will end. It will, but not for now, at least not in the following millenium.

I think its a little ego-miniacle for us to say the world is going to end at any date if you think about it maybe the world will end for us and a number of other species but it will definatly still be here. I believe many of the problems we have with our current treatment of the earth stem from this idea that we are its center and after we are gone there will be nothing else. If we start seeing the inerconnectedness of all things then maybe we can see how our actions affect everything.

You know, this reminded me of a terrible religious movie called 2012 which was based on the theory that the world would end on that date. The movie was so bad, if you want a good laugh, I would recommend you watching it. I have no clue if anything in that prophecy would come true or not.

How come these people knew about the end of the world? Are they prophets? The Messiah? lol But as far as I know, only God knows when is the end of the world He made. So if i hear stories about it, I could really believe. Unless God Himself tell it to me.

Here is my interpretation of the world coming to an end stories:
Periodically the earth shifts on its axis to realign itself and maintain its balance. That results in tremendous changes on the face of the planet which in the past has resulted in 'the end of the world as we know it'.
It is my understanding that we are currently experiencing one of those times right now. But I believe that the massive shift in consciousness - with so very many people remembering the spirit essence that is who they really are, and reconnecting to their source energy - that a lot of the vibrations from those massive energy fluctuations have been absorbed into itself and been neutralized, or utilized in other ways, making it a less traumatic time... although I don't know that those who are experiencing earthquakes and tidal waves are feeling very 'untraumatized'.
I have heard that one person connected to his spirit source has more creative power than 1000's of unaware people. And in this current time we have MANY people - not just a few here and there as has been the case historically - remembering who they really are, and reconnecting to their source energy. This 'collective' consciousness is tremendously powerful... and so many loving, shining, powerful, brilliant minds focused on harmonious relationships with each other, and with the planet itself, there is no way that would not have a beneficial and calming effect on the world at large.
Change can come suddenly and dramatically, or it can come slowly and imperceptibly, but either way it's gonna come. I for one court change. I woo it. And while I prefer to 'take my changes easily' sometimes it takes something a little more 'emphatic', hehehehe.

Mmmmm ... all the lovely things I have read and would love to accept wholeheartedly. Have you experienced this thing they call "enlightenment"? That's when you know for sure what the hell this world is all about. :) Oh well, I guess I have been reading too much of Osho. Have you read Osho? He too hates Christianity, and he makes some wild statements about the religion. I have a feeling you will love Osho.

PS: Up above I said "I have heard that one person connected to his spirit source...". Of course that should read "his or her spirit self". Boy we sure need a better way to refer to a particular in general, hehehe, rather that having to say 'his or her' he or she'... what a pain!

Oh yes, I feel the same way about "his and her." A real pain! The English language is capable enough to invent a new word. Maybe it will one day! And yes, so many times, I have felt like using the word "it" instead of this maddening "his or her."

No matter what inquiring minds might say this prediction is very false indeed. Our minds are not that advanced and our minds are tainted to even come up with a conclusion such as this.I know that there will alway's be skeptics in the world but this is simply false testimony. The world will end when God say's it's gonna end.God gives us hints from current events in the world that we are facing troubled times but when the world will end at an exact dat man will never know. Not even the angels in heaven know when Jesus will return to earth in all his glory. All you have to do is read and understand the bible and you might know the approximate time but not the precise time.

The Bible is a book I discarded long back as the work of a bunch of chauvinist males, belonging to a desert cult. :) So, at least for me, there is no sense in reading it.

Yeah you're right? I'm really wondering why people's is engorsed knowing when the world will end. This si a beautiful world to end. Besides, how many times do people need to be reminded that it's only God who knows. I'd better be savouring every moment than waste my time to that kind of statements.

OK i had a read of that and the only one that holds any ground at all is the super volcano but we cannot put a date on when yellowstone will erupt, it is due to erupt now but it might not and when it does it may not be a world wide catastrophic it will most likely be only USA that will be wiped out.
The best reason there is why the earth will end in 2012 is the polar shift theory, what it basically is, is when all the planets in our solar system line up perfectly which causes our magnetic field to become distrupted and cause north and south swap places which would be catastrophic. Scientists have evidence that it happened many times in earths history and even our moons history.
It scary stuff, type it in youtube.

This is not the first time a claim was made that the world was going to end. In the past the same thing has been claimed. And our big beautiful world is still standing. Despite all the hogwash predictions. Give me a break. There is no one that can tell when the world will end or should I say if the world is ever going to end.

This is a false prophecy, not a real one. This World of ours will live longer than this painful deadline. The authors of this prophecy are vile people, not the Mayan people. Vile people with a vile, insane goal. Don't be afraid of this year! This year is nothing than an ordinary year, you'll see! If something dreadful really happened in due time, this is a self-fulfilling prophecy, made by some extremely powerful men who thing they have the right to establish a New World order.

This annoys me to! I think it is a load of crap. They could be concentrating on saving the earth environment instead of the end of the earth. It is such a waste of time and energy to be focused on the end of the earth!

you are right my friend nothing is permanent in this world. We should be worried about trying to preserve the world instead of speculating when the world will end.God said in the bible that He will not let man destroy the earth, when he comes back to earth he will destroy it himself. The world still has plenty of life left and we need to experience it by preserving it.
