I usually just have butter, sour cream, and cheese. I do like to get crazy sometimes and put some bar b que meat and onions and cheese on top which is really good. Sometimes I like just a fully loaded tator with butter, sour cream, cheese, onions, bacon bits. What do you like on yours?

I don't like too many things in my potato! I like it with some butter in and maybe some cheese. And when I'm feeling particularly adventurous I put vinegar in too. Does that sound strange? I'm not sure if it does or not as it's a bit of a family tradition to do this and we all like vinegar a lot so to me it's normal. I can't imagine eating a baked potato with all those things that you described. Can you still taste the potato? Lol! But from the other responses, it sounds as if having so many fillings is quite popular. Maybe one day I'll try it...

I like grilling red potatoes and then putting a simple dressing of balsamic vinegar and olive oil and lemon juice salt and pepper. I also like lemon juice on my baked potato so I don't think you are weird for vinegar.

That sounds really nice, I'm going to have to try that, thanks! Are red potatoes the same as sweet potatoes, or are they a different kind of regular potato? I love sweet potatoes too. I'm glad that using vinegar doesn't seem weird to you!

Baked potatoes can be really good, and if you get creative you can do a lot with them. My mom and I both like the traditional "loaded" potato - butter, cheese, sour cream, chives, and bacon bits. I also like Wendy's broccoli and cheese baked potato - which is literally just broccoli and melted cheese on top of a baked potato with butter. But my favorite homemade creation is what I like to call the Chili Potato - start off with a standard baked potato, add homemade chili, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and maybe a little jalapeno or hot sauce if you like it spicy.

We usually have butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, and bacon bits. Sometimes we have it with ranch dressing, sometimes with chili, cheese, and sour cream, and sometimes with chili con queso.

Mmmm! What a delicious discussion topic! My baked potato topping preference sort of changes from time to time. I went through a period of time (pre-turning vegetarian) when the best potato in the world was one topped with thinly sliced barbecued roast beef. And to be honest, that still sounds yummy today. . . if I could find a fake meat version of roast beef! lol There are other times when I love smothering a hot potato in butter and sour cream (watch out hips, here come about a kajillion extra calories!!). But currently, my preference is melted butter and shredded cheese. I need to go to the market and get some potatoes!

Most of the time I put just a little garlic salt and pepper on it. I do sometimes like sauteed onions and broccoli on top too.

I like butter and sour cream on mine. Sometimes I will have chives, but we seldom can get chives here in Winnipeg. Have to grow our own. Sometimes I will substitute yogurt for the sour cream, and if I am extremely hungry, I will add bacon bits, but since I am on a diet, I do not get that extremely hungry. I do not dare and besides I am not that fond of potatoes anyway.

I love baked potatoes! My favorite way of eating them is with butter, sour cream, and bacon bits. Matter of fact, I might have that in a few minutes for lunch. I don't really want anything major but I think that I will eat a potatoe and see if that is filling enough.

Oh I hate when I am craving a baked potato and I am out of sour cream. It just isn't the same without it especially if that is what your tastebuds are set on having.

That sounds very simple, but it actually sounds really nice! I like to go for the simple fillings rather than stuffing as many flavours as I can in there; I think they detract from the flavour of the potato. I'm going to try it.

i love to eat baked potatoes. my favourite thing is cheese on it as a topping. a non fat youghurt is also a good topping. i had it when i attended a party of one of my family relative. they were serving this baked potatoes with varities of toppings so i thought to taste this youghurt one. i also tatse the cheese and cheddar cheese one. it was really yummy. everything was refrigerated. it was tasting so good that once then i tried the same at home. otherwise i use to do the cheese one. but then i thought that this non-fat youghurt is much more healthy, why not have this. you should also give it a try. it really taste good.

I rarely eat potatoes as they are very high in carbs and too much carbs is not good for us. But when I do eat a potato it will definetly be backed as it is the best way to prepare them, according to the dieticians. But the way to eat them is without all of the crap we put on them. I call it crap but I am sorry because to me it is crap but to others it is good. I only put a little bit of butter and salt and lots of black pepper on mine. I eat the peels and all as that is where most of the nutrition is. I may have one or two of them a week but never more than that. Alrighty then, talk to you later, your friend Chris.

I'm boring! My usual baked potato adventure is microwaving one, mashing it up, and putting broccoli and cheese on top of it before warming it all of the way through. Sometimes I'll throw bits of cooked meats that are leftover or other vegetables. I also like to add ranch dressing mix to them, sour cream, and onions.

I like the brocoli and cheese idea but I am not a fan of microwaving my "baked" potato although I used to do them that way alot.

When I am having a baked potato at home I usually just put on a little bit of butter and then load it up with sour cream! Mmm yum! If I go to a restaurant I will usually get the potato loaded, which includes the butter, sour cream, chives, cheese, and bacon bits. There was a restaurant called McAllister's Deli where I want to college and they had all these wide range of loaded baked potatoes you could get. If you could think up the concoction, they could put it on a potato for you! Gosh now you have me craving a baked potato! Good going! LOL jk

Baked potato, plain and simple: Butter, or margerine, and bacon bits, not the actual fresh ones though, that come in the ziplock bag, the crunchy ones in the shaker container, just that crunchy-ness makes it better....droolz

My favourite topping will be eggs (be it scrambles or hard boiled egg) mixed with mayonaise or tuna mayo. It do taste soooo good!! I dont really like cheese on top of it as i think its a bit of a disturbance to the taste of the potato... Perhaps, the next time i have baked potato i will try with mushroom Sauted in butter with mashed avocado with a bit of salt and pepper. Yum!!
