I just now heard on the nightly news that they have set up a pet food bank to help pet owners with food and treats for their pets. I did not catch a phone number but I did catch the city. It was Alanta GA. Have you heard of such a program?
They said that they have been receiving calls from all over the country asking how to set up a program like this. What do you think? Would this be a program you could use?

Sounds like a great program! I think there should be one all of the place. There are many people that have animals and that because of the way things are going, have a hard time with buying food and what have you. I am one of these people. I don't let my animals go without food, mind you, but it gets hard. I sure could use one in my area.

What a Godsend that would be for so many people, who are having to give up their pets due to joblessness or just not enough income. That is one of the best things I've heard recently.

This is a really great idea. It's not just humans who suffer when they can not afford food, it's pets!! And if pets are in loving homes, but food is subsidised somehow, or provided for by a food bank, then there will be a lot less neglected pets, because humans can't even feed themselves, yet they don't want to turn their pets out to die as strays in the street.

i saw this too and have posted about this.I think its wonderful. I was so glad to see it. Now more people can keep their animals instead of having to give them up or have them hungry.

I am surprised no one thought of that earlier. What an awesome concept.
