Is being lucky predetermined?

Words to live by. Life is very short. There are no guarantees as to when and where Ill be tomorrow. I dont want life to ever end with me feeling sorry for myself. I believe there's reasoning for everything. I am sure by situation has a purpose. I will be okay as long as I have you guys to fall back on. Thanks for responding. I really needed it. dl

The idea behind The Secret is thinking POSITIVE thoughts. I truly believed last year that I'd do great in my business (top 12 in sales nationwide during the 3rd quarter) and I did; I stopped believing in myself and now I'm barely able to scrape together 25 cents! All because I stopped believing in myself! I don't believe in luck, but like I said, everyone has to change their thinking! The term 'luck' is overused; I think it's become more of a habit than anything. Now I don't tell my friends 'good luck' when searching for a job; I let them know I'll say a short prayer.

Sounds interesting. I believe that we create our own destiny by the choices we make. I think that luck is different in meaning for everyone. For me luck is something that keeps me going. I am on an eternal quest to find luck. It sounds crazy but if you think about it we are always trying to be better than the last time. For some luck is something to get out of bed for. Its the idea of trying to figure out how to be or have more luck than the guy next to you. The word luck is used too too much. In all reality, most people spend their entire life trying to become a close friend of lady luck. This can be destructive or it can help you to strive for things. Whether or not you believe in luck is not the point. What you position you allow luck to take in your life is the point. dl

I thought so too. Until I took a look back at the past few weeks only to realize that I have done nothing wrong. I cant seem to shake the feeling that I must have done something in another life that I am being punished for. I am a very hard worker and I cant seem to get and keep a good job. Dont get me wrong, I havent been fired. The job just seems to end for one reason or another. I am tired of helping everyone else and never getting so much as a thanks or an offer to help me as I have helped them. I never give or do something with the expectations of getting it back. dl

Thanks for the advice. I am proud of myself because I have struggled and came out okay. I dont always get the results I wanted. I get the results I needed. Life is a series of lessons that we complete and hopefully learn from. I am always trying to help others. I am lucky enough to have gone thru situations that allow me to help others who will go thru the same thing. Luck is based on how you look at things. Dl

Thats how I feel lately. I try so hard to be a good person and do the right things and it seems as if I cant get a break. I guess all we can do is learn from our mistakes or bad times and move on. I will not change the way I live to suit fate. Helping others and being a positive role model is something I am proud of. Whether or not luck is relevant is up to me. FOr today I am lucky. To be able to talk about it and look for solutions that I like is a positive. Some people are able to decide for themselves for what ever reason. I guess I can only work harder to succeed. Thanks dl

I tell my children this everyday. Everything you do has a reaction. Whether good or bad depends on the way it was put out there. People play off of each others emothions. If I am in a positive frame of mind and I am working very hard to succeed, I most likely will achieve or obtain things we want. This can be interpreted as good luck. Negative or bad luck is the same idea. I believe that if we are good, we will subconsciously give off positive vibes. These vibes will seek out positivity or people who are open to except the positive vibes. If people feel happy they are more apt to be generous, kind loving, and accepting. If we are looking for a specific thing such as money. If we keep a positive frame of mind we may get what we need. This is all able to be interpreted as good luck. Who would of thought a smile or hand shake good be the beginning of something great. If only.....dl

I absolutely agree! Sometimes I become depressed and forget that I have come thru worse. I guess I am only human. lol I just hope that things get better fast. Sometimes life seems unfair. I work so hard and seem to go backwards instead of forwards. I am lucky. I have the sense enough to reach out when I am in a bad place. TO me that is luck in its purest form. Its funny that no matter how bad you feel, children always bring back the good feelings. I think it depends on how you look at things. When something negative happens, we tend to view everything as unlucky. As we start to calm down, we begin to look at the positive aspects which brings back the luck. I am one of the luckiest women on earth. I just lost my way for a moment. Thanks to friends at myLot, I see things clearly. dl

God has blessed me many times. I feel ashamed for questioning my good fortune when things became a little tough. Oh well I am human. One of the qualities I try to follow is to be humble. I dont think I am too good. In fact Its just the opposite I was thinking that maybe I havent been doing enough. In my heart I know I am following a righteous path. That's what we are supposed to do. Fortunately for me I live a good, positive, life. I am not a braggart. I respect others and their opinions. I never take more than I can give. So I guess I am lucky. I am lucky because I have the ability to feel the way I want and say and ask the questions that I need answered. In other countries I would be ostracized for my questions. I am luckier than I thought. dl

I think fate and luck go hand and hand. I find that people blame their laziness on being "unlucky" or ill-fated. Shame on them. Luck is a result. In order to have "good luck" so to speak, we must work for it. Its all cause and effect. Luck is the prize at the end of the rainbow. How lucky you are depends on how much effort you put into achieving the goal at hand. You're correct in saying that one's participation is a must in order to succeed. dl
