I am not sure about that. But one thing is for sure, the MAC browser, Safari, has a windows version, and my friend Maxehmo is bragging about it's speed so much he could be an endorser. Hehe. I'm not so sure about Mozilla Firefox, because it's an open-source browser, so a MAC compatible copy maybe out there.

Most of the time open-source stuffs are platform-independent, because they're uhmm...well, open-source. That means that the language used to create the software has no platform restrictions. Like for the old Visual Studio, the Windows applications that you do there are windows-dependent, because they are after all windows application. Take JAVA for example, if you have a java runtime engine, a java program that you make, let's say in windows, can be played in Linux. Or at least that's what I understand.
Safari has a window-compatible version of the browser. I'm not sure if it's platform-independent.
