Hi Bookworms, I think that it was said to be bad, because it goes against the teachings in the Bible - Jesus did not have a wife (something like that, I'm not sure).
However, if you treat it just like any other story, it's very entertaining! This is one of the few books I finished reading in 2 days !

I believe its fiction mixed with facts and made a nice novel, though i dont believe all in it as true.

Da Vinci Code was an excellent book. It was nicely written based on undeniable facts. It is amazing how Dan Brown had fit them together.
At the same time I do not believe it insults Christians. It made me love Jesus. However, it criticise the Church.

I LOVED The DaVinci Code - and so did many other Christians I know.
The story was fascinating, as was the history - so it was educational as well. It was also thought provoking. Sure, it may not be what the Bible teaches, and the Catholic Church in particular may consider it blasphemous, but I think it's interesting to be given "What if's..." and then think about how that might change my perception of something.
With "What if" The DaVinci Code offered, it would change my opinion of Jesus precious little - so the book did not trouble me.
I thought it was great and interesting piece of fiction, and I recommend it all my friends who love to read.

I thought the book was GREAT. I found it fascinating how Dan Brown was able to intertwine real places and real events into a story that has people talking years and years after it was published.
Are there truths in what he wrote? I'm a firm believer that any established large organization has secrets it doesn't want us ordinary folks to know about. The Catholic Church is definitely no different.
The DaVinci Code is a fun book to read, as are the other books written by Dan Brown:
Angels and Demons (also about the Catholic Church)
Deception Point and Digital Fortress (US Gov't secret ops)
Are any of these true? Who knows??? And that's what makes them interesting!
