I have a Casio Exilm and it has many neat features (like a digital and optical zoom, anti-shake, and many pre-programmed settings like low-light and portrait). It's also very easy to use and very compact. It wasn't that expensive either. If you want to see some pictures that I have taken with that brand, they are located at:

I have a Pentax Optio 5si, the current version probably has a similar name. It has a lot of features and is very compact, so you can slip it in a pocket or small purse and take it anywhere. It has a number of flash and exposure settings, and you can take (short) videos as well.

when i buy a camera i look at the megapixels if it's higher then 6 and if it have a batery (niclon) or aa batery's because if u take a camera to a festival and your batery is down and u got those niclon batery's u only have 1 or 2 off them so u will be runninng out off taking pictures pretty fast :p

A digital camera is an electronic device used to capture and store photographs electronically instead of using photographic film like conventional cameras. Modern compact digital cameras are typically multifunctional, with some devices capable of recording sound and/or video as well as photographs. Professional digital cameras are generally dedicated to photography. In the Western market, both types of digital cameras now outsell their 35 mm film counterparts.

If you want to research cameras go to www.dpreview.com If you want me to recommend one I would suggest the Canon A530. It is a 5 megapixel camera with a 4x optical zoom. It has full auto mode and has some additional features that allow you to contorl the camera more. I take team and group pictures for resale. I had my main camera suddenly quit and I had to use my A530 to take the pictures. You could not tell the difference once they were process when compairing them to the $1200 Minolta Dimage A1. I use the canon for vacation and quick family shots. It is powerful, great pictures and very easy to use.
