How do you save on shopping?

With prices getting higher how do you save on shopping? Any type of shopping whether it is food or clothes what saving tips have you got? I use coupons sometimes when I can remember and I also find the internet cheaper, but then that means that other businesses suffer. The internet does seem the cheapest way right now. I also sometimes shop for clothes and books in charity shops and I also use eBay a lot.

There are no coupons here in Egypt that I know of! Back in my home country though there are groceries chains when you can get a card for that store and get discounts. If they have the same here I'm sure I would use it. I'm sure I am like most people and will seek a discount or a sale wherever I can find it! Happy shopping!

I have been using several more cupons now then I ever used to, I also shop around a lot more and get online looking for the best deals. There was a time not too long ago where I would just drive to the store and not even consider the price sometimes and now I am taking time to search out the best deals and shop for cheaper brands. I don't know how much longer I can keep this up so I can only hope that things take a turn for the better sometime soon.

I use coupons a lot and I also send in for rebates. I take advantage of Buy one Get one Half Off or get one free offers, especially on shoes for my kids. I look at the clearance aisles and set a limit on what I will spend on specific items for my kids, especially now with back to school shopping.

I always mean to use coupons the problem is I save them up from magazines then forget to use them and the expiry date happens first.

Hi mickie, I am quite the bargain shopper. I will only shop for things that are on sale. That goes for food, clothes, toiletries, just about anything. You have to save wherever you can these days. Food items is where we need to save as much as possible so I check the circulars each week for the sale items. I try to do 1 big shopping for the month. Then once a week my bf picks up what I don't get at the beginning of the month shopping. I buy store brands whenever I can. There are a few exceptions where I will buy a name brand item, but only when it's on sale. I try really hard to stick to this because food is where most of the money in the budget goes. As for other items like toilet paper, towels, soaps, etc. again sales is the way to go. I don't shop too much on the internet because I find the shipping cost is way to expensive.

I eat almost entirely certified-organic food, and buy ecologically-friendly household supplies and hygiene supplies such as toilet paper made entirely from recycled paper, certified-organic toothpaste, and cleaners made from biodegradable and natural ingredients. As you might know, this is very expensive, but I do have ways to save on shopping. First of all, I frequent stores that give bag discounts. Those five-cent bag discounts when I use my own reusable book bags and shopping bags really do add up! Plus, it's good for the earth to not waste precious resources on plastic and paper bags, and doing this is better for the landfills and wildlife. Second, I buy store-brand organic products whenever possible, and stock up whenever there is a sale on them. Third, I use coupons only on brand names and items that I already use. Fourth, I buy a lot of stuff online, especially where there is free shipping, used books and other used items, and substantial discounts. Fifth, it is my strict policy to rarely buy things at retail. I only do that when I really need the item and can't get it any other way. I hope this helps.

Organic food is very nice and tasty. I don't blame you for buying it instead.

I have found that I have saved loads when food and grocery shopping by trying the stores own brands in many things. I have certain products and food items I buy where I always by a good brand, but with many other expensive items, I decided to try firstly the value brand and find that I can pick up gorgeous rice pudding for just 9p, and ginger biscuits that are the same as the 'real thing' for about 20p. I have even gone onto their value coffee and was amazed at how good it is, considering I am a coffee snob usually. It saves me £1.80 a jar, and I go through at least a jar a week. If I don't like or get on with the cheap cheap one, I move onto the stores own brand not their value one and try these. I love their baked beans and there cornflakes. I have found that in most cases there is little if any difference to the better makes apart from the packaging, and in some cases I find they taste better. :) I have saved a fortune since trying this as I automatically used to go for the top brands of most things without really thinking.

Store brands can be just as good if not better. They are also of course, cheaper.
