I mean no offense by asking, I just have always wondered this:
There is more than one version of the bible, this everyone knows, but I wonder, how do you decide what version to follow? Is it dictated by the religion you follow or do you just pick one? I've never really understood that aspect so I figured I'ld ask.

Most versions of the Holy Bible have the same message. Some people believe
in using only the King James Bible, but I have found different translations like
the Living Bible, New American Standard and New International Version
(My Favorite)were translated from the same ancient manuscripts but only in more modern
languagethan the Old English of the King James version. I believe the Holy Bible is THE
Word of God and would not follow any other books such as the Quaran or the Book or Mormon.

A lot of times a Christian will choose a Bible according to the accepted basis of their denomination. For example Catholics usually all use the New American Bible, Lutherns are translations from the Luther Bible, Jehovah's Witnesses-New World Translation, etc... But for other Christians they choose the bible most used in their services so that they can understand and know what the Pastor/Priest/Clergy is teaching, sort of like a college campus all using Mac OSX so that the instructor does not have to give 100 different instructions for 100 different Operating Systems.
Me personally am not Christian but I use the King James, the Restoration of the Origional Sacred Name, Amplified, and The Douay-Rheims Bibles, in addition to these I use a Strong's Concordance, Many Apocrypha and Psydo-Apocrypha texts. I know as does everyone that many of the books of the Bible were omitted from inclusion in the connon of scripture.
I hope that this has answered your question adequately. Have a great day!!

I like the King James Version for a couple of reasons. The first is, it is the version used most by my particular denomination. Next, I've noticed that the more modern translations are fine for straight reading, but the translators only seem to be insterested in the words themselves. The writers of the books used phrasology and rhythms that are lost in well... translation. The Old English translation retained most of the literary devices used by the original writers.

NO THERE IS ONLY ONE BIBLE THERE ARE MORE TRANSLATION OF THE SAME THING IF YOU MUST HAVE THE MOST ReLIABLE THEN GO TO THE ORIGIONAL BUT FIRST you have to study aramaic of hebrew just as mulims will tell you if you dont read the quoran in the original language you cant nderstand it (not true in my oppinion with either book)
