They diagnosed my son when he was six. But now i am starting to wonder if he is truly ADHD. I took him to the doctor and instead of changing or removing his meds because they just made him act loopy they just added more. Not what I wanted. Guess what it didn't work. I am thinking of weaning off meds. He asked me if he could stop them because he didn't like the way they make him feel. What is your opinion should I get a second opinion or do what i feel is right by my son.

I have a child with ADHD and my oldest son was diagnosed the same but when the meds stopped working i took him to a psycholigist and we found that he was wronggly diagnosed.. So in short if you are finding that the meds arent working try having a pysc. eval. because it is close to 64% of children diagnosed with ADHD are actually Bipolar. it is a common miss diagnosis. they average children by the manic phase and not the down time. and for children that roller coaster can be very drastic.. that is why the meds work only part of the time, and the rest of the time children say the meds make them feel tired or strange because unless they are having a manic or hyper session the meds will not work.
