Generally speaking, I will give him or her a dollar or a dime as pity when I see a beggar, but one day a little beggar, in dirty clothes, ran to me and hugged my leg asking me give him money, frankly I was very angry with him at that time, and I tried to shake off him. Even if a beggar shall be civilized. What do you think about it and what do you do when the same thing happen to you?

I don't give money to beggars, because if you do you'll just make him a parasite and begging will become his career. Alms is not a solution to poverty but the real help from the government or institution to alleviate their lives.
If it would happen to just like what happened to you, I would just shake him off and turn around. You cannot expect a beggar to be civil.

I agree ... beggars are parasites and should not be entertained.

i will feel very sad because the begger is a human being and to witness a person like that...to become almost like an animal really makes you appreciate your life more.
whenever i see a begger i will try to be as nice as i can. but mostly i won't give too much money because some of the beggers are actually ordinary people trying to ask for money without working.
we should discourage them from begging for a living and instead, try to make themselves useful to the community and themselves.=)
