This is one of the most controversial question to ask. Most Peoples relate this with Linux Vs Windows but this is not really related to that. Where Open Source means a Solutions which is coming with the Source Code of development which enables you to modify the original and develop and new form or upgraded version. The Major Problem with Open Source is Compatibility and Version Control. Although Most of the Open Source Technologies are Free to Use and Distribute. the Compatibility and Support will make the difference. This is the point Where Microsoft Stands Better then others. They offer Standard Versions Controlled by them and Full Support for the end uses..... This Discussion is for getting a better Idea to understand which is a better option
