I am still living in my home town, the town I was born in, most of the my classmates moved away after high school, some went to college and never moved back, some went in the military, and a few of us stayed and some moved back here. Now I wonder if things would have been different for me if I had moved away. I just read the newspaper a former classmate of mines, that I have not seen since the last day we walked out of the high school is home for a funeral, I am going to try to get in touch with her for I have thought of her many times, and wondered what had happened to her.

I haven't lived in my 'hometown' since I was 10 years old, when my family moved from Dallas, Texas to Corpus. For the most part wherever I have lived was my hometown. But over all I think I'll always look at Corpus as my hometown, it's where I graduated from high school, went to college, got married, divorced, had two daughters and lived there for over 20 years. I moved 6 times since I left there. I was lucky enough to live in my dad's hometown during one of those moves. I now live 1600 miles from there, in PA. And it's funny but when I go somewhere and they ask where I'm from and I reply PA, they always say 'not with that accent' lol But it's home now.

I live in the city that I was raised and went to school. I moved away for 10 yrs but then I moved back and my children go to the same schools that I went to. For me it is where I am comfortable and it has a great school system and it is where my parents and sister are. At first my husband wasn't comfortable here because he was raised more in the city rather then the suburbs but now he knows that it is the best for our children. Most of my friends from school have moved away but I still run into people I went to school with and some still go to my church. It is funny when you are at school for one of the kids and you run into a classmate that has kids the same age as yours. Even better is that my one daughter had one of my old teachers. When she told him that she was my daughter - he replied "Thanks now I feel old".
I think everyone has to do what they feel they need to do. Alot of people wouldn't consider staying in town but for me it is the right choice.

My hometown isnt so far away from where I live now, I like going home there once in a while. I dont know but it gives me a different feeling to be in the house i grew-up in. I feel not just comfortable but happy coz its like connecting to my childhood memories when everything else looks big but simple :)

Nah, we move a lot. We're like nomads. I can transfer from one place to another without having a hard time adjusting to the ways of life on that specific place that I moved. For me, earth is my home but we still have to choose the best places.

I don't live in my hometown, and thanks be to God for that! I grew up in a very very small place - for shopping or entertainment, you had to drive at LEAST half an hour, more than an hour if you wanted to go anywhere good. I hated it. I'm a big city girl at heart. Lucky for me, my hubby got stationed in sunny Tampa when he joined the Air Force, and I love it here. I dread the day he gets orders somewhere else.
That said, I do miss the people - I keep in touch with a lot of them via MySpace, which is great. And I miss the familiarity. It's nice to visit - my parents still live there - but I could never move back.

I still live in my home town. I won't be moving away from Leighton until I get married and then I'll be living in Mississippi when that happens. I love Leighton, but I'm gonna enjoy living in a new place too later on in a few years.

Hi,
I am still living in my home town. I do not plan to move from my home town because I will miss my home, my friends and my families a lot.
I think I will need to try staying at other place to gain some experience living far away from home. It would be great but the cost of living will be much higher.
So, I need to have a plan before I can move from my home town.

I moved away for 17 years and moved back to raise my kids here. Most of my old classmates still live here, it's pretty cool. It seems not too many of my old classmates ventured off into the world but i'm really glad I did.

I was more than ready to move out of my hometown. It was very small. One of those places where everyone knows everyone. I live in a big city now and I love it. I have noticed that most of the people I went to school with also moved. I think it is where ever you are happy. If you are happy in your hometown then stay there. You don't have to follow the crowd.

I still live in my hometown also. When I graduated from college I was offered a teaching job in Florida and decided not to go. I often wonder how my life would be different if I did choose to go also.
We have a class reunion every 5 yrs, so I get to meet up with my classmates and catch up at this time.

Not Anymore. My hometown is different from my birth place. I don't live either to those places as of now. I am living in a bigger city where the center of business of our country is located. I still visit my hometown during vacations and I love staying there.

No, I don't live in my hometown. I moved away from there 33 years ago. Since then, I've lived in 4 other states and 10 other cities.
My high school graduating class only had one reunion - the 25th - and I wasn't able to go. Thankfully, they are working on having a 40th in 2010.

I have left my hometown many times and always seem to come back. I have travelled coast to coast, but I really like my hometown. It is small (about 35000), and is a well-kept town, there isn't a lot of industry there. I think that everyone should leave their hometown after graduation. It broadens their horizons, lets them know that things are different in other areas. Also gives them more persective on their home town. I think about 1/2 of my graduating class left town, never to return. The other half I hardly ever see when I do visit. I contacted my hs best friend, but our lives were so different that after we caught up there wasn't a whole lot to talk about. I will probably settle in my hometown or w/i 20-30 miles because of family, but that's quite a few years down the road. For now give me the travel-seeing new people and places.
