Would you rather live in the countryside?...

Would you rather live in the city where where is never-ending fun, excitement, nightlife, and all the malls your shopper's heart can wish for?
Or would you rather live in the countryside and wake up to the sound of birds twittering, pick dewy-fresh vegetables from your own garden, and breath the sweet fresh air?
My husband prefers the city; he likes the fun and excitement. I'm a country girl. I like to walk barefoot on green meadows, plant my own vegetables, romp with the cows and chase butterflies.
How about you?

hi,polaris,i was born in a small town, and now we live in village.here my parents
love so much because there is endless fresh air for us to breathe, vast area for my
father to keep chickens, ducks and fresh dewy vegetables as you said.we have a
well, and we draw water from the well,so water is free and endless here.in
summer,it's cool;and in winter,it feels a little warm.we have a villa,spacious
house just for us three people, dad, mum and me.now i go to university far away from
home,so there are just dad and mum stay at home.i feel it is too silent and still
here.we can have access to enough fresh outside things and lacks in public
entertainment.maybe old people love this kind of life, peaceful and healthier in
comparison with city life.but our young people tend to flock to big cities and try
to witness those advanced technology and enjoy the beautiful night views instead
of seeing darkness in the countryside.it just depends on different people and
different tastes of life.

That was a beautiful post, almost like a song. You captured almost all the things I loved about living in the countryside, so natural, so fresh and peaceful. But I suppose growth requires moving to other places to pursue our vocations in life...

I wanted so much to live in the countryside if I had the chance. I would love to wake up to the chirping sound of the birds, I think it would be so relaxing. I'd love to see big trees, fresh flowers and butterflies, too. But I live in the city where my work is. I guess the only way I could experience countryside life is to have a vacation if possible.

If your office has a branch in the countryside maybe you could try to get a transfer? That's what I plan to do eventually, since I am truly a country girl at heart. Its just that my husband prefers the city, but I think I can convince him (wink, wink) because I noticed that he is getting more and more allergic to pollution. He keeps sneezing everytime we go out.

your correct... people should go where their work depends on.. living in the countryside is the best way of relaxing your mind, especially when your stressed because of work...
birds in the counrtyside can make you feel better, no worries, and make you enjoy life..
on my part, i love to live and stay in the countryside after i have a enough money to support my daily needs. i would rather make a bussiness in the countryside, for example, i have an asset for building a mini grocery store so that i would not be bored if incase i dont have any stuff to get my attention with, if i'm in the countryside..
i am a city man, then i would prefer to go on the countryside because there is so much peace in there.. hahaha.. that's true.. i love fishing beside the river, playing in the grasses and i can do whatever i want to do...
city is a big and there we can get all the stuff what we need in life but for me, even if there are all things in the city, it just makes me stress looking at busy persons riding on cars, working on offices, etc., and i cant have to relax my mind and body. but, it depends on you if you decide to live in the countryside to experience what i have experienced..
By d way, do have relatives on the countryside or none? =p(just asking)

I perfer to live on the out skirts of the city, just far enough out so that I can have a garden, walk in the woods, but close enough that if I have to go to town to get groceries or want to go to the store, or movie, it is only a few minutes drive to the city.We live in a small town which is about 3 miles from the main stream of everything. There is not the noise, the traffic, but we are still close to everything. I love it out in the country, but getting too old for being so far out.

You have the best of both worlds, I'd say. Enjoying the tranquility and freshness of the countryside but close enough to avail of the city's conveniences and services. Lucky you!

You're lucky, I guess you are near the countryside, even if you live in a city. I heard that Cagayan de Oro is a beautiful place. Never been there, but hope to visit it someday. Let's keep our countryside as clean and beautiful as it is!

Hello polaris,
I love the countryside just like you, I hate the city with all that pollution, noise and people rusing every where and getting no where, also nobody care about anybody each one for themselves. Too people around its a dog eat dog world, but for me I love trees around me nature around me animals and little creatures and butterflies and bees birds singing their happy tunes gentle breeze blowingin your hair and the smell of countryside so sweet its heaven so I am just like you in that and live in the country and never want to go back to liviing in big city.

You make me want to rush out that door and take the nearest plane home! Unfortunately my home is so far away, and fares have almost doubled over the last few months.
Yeah, we're very much alike in the way we feel about the city, and how we love the countryside! Take care and enjoy yourself in the countryside. Take a few lungfulls of fresh, unpolluted air for me will you

For me the countryside!! I can't wait to get out of this subdivision we are currently living in. We just bought an old home in the county and I can't wait to get moved in! It is several miles outside of town and a rural area. I will have plenty of room for a garden too!

well i must say i'm a greedy person. i want to stay in the countryside with easy access to the city. i don't think i can make a living in the countryside so work will be in the city. however, falling asleep to the sound of insects and waking to twittering birds is like a dream. i find that it's like a natural lullaby that lulls me to dreamland where sweet dreams awaits. i don't mind spending the occasional weekends in the city though. but i'd prefer to live in the countryside. cheers ;p

We live in a big city right now, but we are moving to the countryside this fall and I can't wait, I'm so excited. I want to hear birds and crickets instead of cars, motorcycles and ambulances. I want to start every day by going outside to water the garden and feed the animals. I want to have healthy, sustainable living, fresh water, and the peace that comes from being around God's creation. And yes, chasing butterflies with my children sounds great, too!

We live in the country and love it, but don't kid youself, you would never walk barefooted in my fields, to many crawlies to step on and they don't like to be stepped on. As for fresh vegies, they are a lot of work, in fact everything is a lot of work, your own well, your own fences, etc. etc. And it's very noisy, the frogs will keep you awake until you are use to them. The sunset and sunrise are beautiful, the seasons great, nothing like a snow covered field or deer in the spring. I guess it's just what turns you on. LOL

Well, living in the city can be a lot of work too. You need a lot of money to pay the rent, go shopping and partying with. So it all depends, like you say.

hi, i prefer to stay where i am. city born and city bred, i've got used to things around here, fully enjoy the convenience that city can offer-- a chat with friends, dine out, shopping after work, finding a new job easily, and so forth. i will consider spend short period of time in the country occasionally, like two-days off.

I like country but the quietness of the place, I just cant take it. And boredom. I cant take it. And the weather, I think its too hot. That is what I feel though. I like city more though, because internet connection is available, the noise, the bad pollution. I grew up in the city that is why I get used to it very much. I love being in country side when my cousins are there but now, where separated, so I dont want to stay there anymore. Oh and children are much annoying there. hahaha

You remind me of a cousin who grew up in the city and came to visit us in the countryside a few years back. He kept looking for things that he had gotten used to and took for granted in the city, and he was frustrated because he couldn't find them in our tiny village: airconditioned malls, convenience stores, internet cafe, restaurants, disco houses, etc. Needless to say, he didn't last more than a few days in our hometown :) Happy mylotting to you

I would like to live there for 2 or 3 months a year. There is really beautiful and the scene and air are much better than those of the city. But it is somewhat unconvenient. I even cann't be on net in the countryside. I will irritated for a long time far away from the city.

I love the country its really beautiful in country, but i prefer to live in a neighborhood in the city becuse i think its a little safer and if anything were to happen help wouldnt be far away it might take a wile for help to reach you in the country and i dont have to worry about wild animals in the city.

I've lived in th city my whole life and at times we do get to go to the countryside. It is such a good welcome from the hustle and bustle of the city. My husband would like to retire one day in the countryside. I want to wake up hearing the birds chirping, the trees swaying to the wind and so on.

That's my dream too, to retire to a little cottage in the countryside and wake up to the sound of birds singing for the rest of my life. Isn't that nice? And stay on mylot as long as I want LOL Makes me want to retire soon; if only I had enough money I'd retire right now LOL

I'm a little of both. I cannot stay too long in either place.
I live in a city and I enjoy the convenience of it. There's a shopping mall 5 minutes away from my house and I can get anything and everything I need from there.
It's stressful to live in a city for too long. Sometimes, I get very tired of noise and crowds. That's the time I crave for life in a countryside.
I have never traveled to a countryside before. All the countries I have visited so far are cities too. I would love to travel to a countryside soon (ie. New Zealand farm stay)

I think I would like a bit of both.
I live in the city and I had a friend who used to take us for long drives into the country districts.
It was interesting and enjoyable.
Lets face it, however, there's nothing like a life with lots to do and thats the city.

Well, there sure are a lot of things to do in the city, lots of excitement and fun things. And maybe if I were really really rich LOL I could buy a house with a spacious lawn in a posh subdivision, and drive out to the countryside every weekend LOL
Unfortunately we only get to do it every once in a long while, and now with fuel prices sky high and almost everything else following suit we could barely afford it :(

I have lived on both sides of this fence. I was raised in a city atmosphere for most of my life. When I was a little older I started to live in a country side atmosphere. The countryside atmosphere is a beautiful surrounding.
When I was much younger I always wanted to be a city girl, however I now live in Alabama with my husband and four year old son and I find the country type area to be quite peaceful and tranquil.

That's one of the things I love best about the countryside: its tranquility. I lived in the countryside most of the life until we moved to the city a few years ago. After several years in the city, I still long for a life in the country...

I think I am a little bit of both. I like having high speed internet so at least a little bit towards the city living but on the outside where I can still get it, just away from everyone else, as long as I have the net I have people to talk to so why live in town? I hate the sound of cars going by, their noisy and you can't sleep in very long, so id probably have to say yes more of a country girl.
