I came home late today and saw the sink messed up with a lot of dirty plates. OMG, I had no choice but to wash them all because my brother already cooked dinner, the other one helped in doing the laundry and my sister cleaned the whole house. And yet, I wonder why the dirty plates were left? why then most people hate washing the dishes? are you one of those?

I am probably the only one here that does this but I have to wash the pots and pans before I eat. I can't explain why, when I finish cooking I serve the food and I do the pots and pans before I sit down to eat, then all I have to do after wards are the plates and utensils. I don't hold up anyone's dinner then can all start to eat but I have to do this before I sit down to eat. It is really not that bad, I use non stick pots and pans so cleaning is fast and easy and it makes me feel good knowing they are done before I eat.

I also wash pots, pan, utensils, and anything else I used in food preparation before I sit down to eat. I wash them as I cook so that they don't pile up. I consider them essential tools of food preparation, and don't look at them as "dirty dishes". Mark

Whether I like washing the dishes or not depends on the mood I'm in because it's a very boring job but sometimes I like using the time to think. I also think that it looks like a bigger job than it really is when the sink is full of dishes and there's dirty pots and pans on the counter because they all take up space but, when you really get going, it doesn't take that much time at all.

Hi wendhieRN - I do hate to wash dishes by hand... thank goodness for dishwashers. I have gotten better as I get older though. I know it has to be done. My husband & my 13 year old son definitely are not going to take it upon themselves to do the dishes! It does make me upset often. It wouldn't be so bad if they would at least rinse off their plates and stack them neatly on the counter. I cannot stand having a pile of dirty dishes in the sink and all the food is stuck to them like glue. That makes it ten times harder for me once I get to them to wash them. Even if I am going to put them in the dishwasher. I don't mind loading the dishwasher as much as I hate unloading it once they are all clean. I don't know why. I usually give that job to my son as one of his chores, to put them all away for me. It does help. Oh geez, I better get off the computer now and turn it off. There is a horrible storm coming! YIKES!

I hate a lot of dirty dishes in the sink. When I was working, my husband used to wash the dishes. sometimes he would leave them and wash them right after a meal, when I go to do them he always say leave them I will do them. Well, that's like a fish asking for food I will just go on and wash them.
That is why I use paper plates a lot. I know a lot of people do not using paper plates, but they are a convenience.

its true that most dont like washing dishes, and mind you, im one of them...lol... the worst scenario is that when those dishes are very oily, i wont really do that task...another reason if the water is cold, it makes your hands react so sensitive...lol...and depends on the bulk of dishes to be washed...lol...

perhaps because everybody in your house alrady did they part and the dishes are yours to do? just kidding there.
anyway, i don't know exactly the reason why others just hate washing the dishes. but i don't. i do it all the time... with pleasure.
here in sweden, most homes have dish washers. i prefer not to get one even if it isn't really expensive here. i was just thinking that if ever i do have a dish washer here at home, i might be already too lazy to do anything else and just let machines do the chores.

That is why I have a dishwasher! My first two apartment with my hubby did not have a dishwasher-we would fight about cleaning the dishses everynight. When we went househunting I absolutely knew we needed a dishwasher.
My mom on the other hand has a perfectly good dishwasher but hates using it.

It's messy that's why you'll have a feeling of not liking to touch it. And yes, I'm one of those who doesn't like washing dishes, but have to, who else would do it, specially at night when my maid is out already? But once I get to finish dishwashing, I feel good because I see plates. spoons, forks and other kitchen things clean again.

I must be an oddball, as I don't mind washing dishes. It brings back memories of the times my mother and I spent washing and drying the dishes while we discussed various topics. Perhaps those who hate doing dishes have been taught to do so by the grumblings of others.
Why are you complaining about washing a few dishes when your siblings have been doing their share of the work?

Hehe.. I hate to admit to this.. but.. I am also one of those culprits.
I don't know why, but I just hate doing the dishes, and I don't mind seeing a sinkful of dirty plates and just choose one out of all the others in the sink as and when I need it. It's a chore to be cleaning up and washing dishes, which usually takes a much longer time to complete than let's say.. sweeping the floor or something.
There are just so many steps involved in something as simple as washing a dish! First you got to rinse it off with water, then soap it, then rinse it again. 3 steps to a simple plate washing! My gosh.
Besides the fact that washing dishes requires lots of steps to get the task done, it also involves getting my hands wet, and soaked in all those chemical thingy (detergent). I would then have to trouble myself to dry my hands and ensure that all detergent is gone. Furthermore, it is taxing on the skin to have that much chemicals on my hands every single day.
Lastly for the simple reason that I could just grab a dirty plate off the sink, wash it and use it as and when I need to use it. I always find that I don't need to do a double job by washing it after use, and then washing it again before usage. Lol.
My gosh~ I sound so vain and lazy in this post of mine. I hope that you don't think so! =X

When I was young I used to be one of those..heheh,so I said to myself, when I grow up, I will not wash plates, I need to have a maid..but of course, in life, we need to wash dishes if nobody can, so even I always remember it, I have to wash the dishes, but with enough water and a good soap(paste or liquid)..BUT hahaha, I still hate washing plate specially starting it..its okay if i only have to finish, but starting it, OMG...huhuhu!

peope hate washing dishs because its a lot of hard work and it takes a long time. Also, by night, when the dishes are ready to be cleaned, most people are so tired they would rather sit down and relax than stand over a sink and scrub. Or if your a teen like me it would be a lot more fun to go play grand theft auto 4 than to spend your whole evening washing dishs.

I have no idea why people hate it. I can do it in a heartbeat...sometimes I just sing to myself or sometimes I put in a CD, but what ever I do, I find that with music playing, the dishes seems to wash themself lol because I seem to finish faster than if I just stand there and wash them without any music playing. When that is the case, believe me, I wish I had more dishes to wash so I can keep singing lol

I hate it right now coz i dont have a kitchen sink. I have to tote them to the bathroom sink. Some people may say thats repulsive but its the only sink i have i clean it many time throughout the day. I could tote water for dish pans in my mock kitchen area but i feel things are cleaner to rinse under running water. Anyway everything is just for awhile. I often use tortillas so i wont dirty as many dishes. I often cook one dish meals and eat from the pan. Ahhh the luxery of being single.
