I worked with people with mental illness in a group home. We had two clients who had what was called... water intox. WE had to monitor how much they drank...they actually became intoxicated off of water! It's a true condition...I had never heard of it before. WE had to weigh them three times a day and track their fluids. Also, people on meds can flush their meds by drinking too much water making them ineffective.

Anything in excess is bad. So if that contestant really drunk in excess, her internal organs might have been affected by her bloating intestine. I believe this is a crazy game to play and people who are in dire need of money are the victims. There are more wise games to play so I think the people behind that have gone out of good ideas that they resort to crazy one. Water is good and drinking enough of it will keep us cleansed, hydrated and healthy but drinking more than we need will put extra burden on our liver aside from the fact that once we fail to urinate the excessive water our internal organs will really suffer.

Of course. Drop someone in the middle of the Atlantic and see how long they live. 'Too much' by definition is bad for you.

Before they should run a contest they must make sure that it is not harmful to the health of the contestant. They overlooked the simple sayings things that says, too much in everything can kill.

of course!! anything in excess can be bad for you. i even read an article last month that somebody got blinded because of excessive water intake. the woman's organs were not functioning properly because of too much water in her body. she drank a lot of water thinking it will be good for her system and for her skin, but instead of becoming healthy, she got a serious medical condition because of it.. that just means dying because of excessive water intake is not impossible.. and with your story, i dont know why of all the possible contest the radio station can make, why does it have to be drinking too much water?! tsk tsk tsk..

I heard about this a while back. The radio station should've known better/ researched whether their contest was hazardous to a persons health. Drinking too much water can kill you. Your body can only handle so much fluid. It wasn't only how much water that she drank, but the amount of time in which she drank it in. Hopefully other radio stations see that some of their "funny" antics need to be researched and outcomes considered before another life is lost.

Yes,I think that, those who drown in the sea sometimes die from taking large quantities of water.

Good day..yes there is a medical thing called water toxicity. Your kidneys can only clear water up to a certain rate to maintain homeostasis (balance) but once the water volume exceeds the kidney's clearance rate, you will literally drawn from the inside out.

Yes it happens. It dilutes your blood to much and your blood becomes to thin and your body can't function properly.

I don't think so. When there was no urine test for pregnancy, there was a sonography test. For that test Docter himself used to tell the women to drink more & more water, as they can see the clear picture of the child on the screen.

Yes I heard the radio station one as well. Along with another one. They drank excessive amounts of water and it turned out that they drowned themselves. Yes you heard right drowned themselves because of all the water that they drank. However I don't know if they are true or not and if they actually happened. But I am not going to be the test subject on that one to find out either.

Yes I do believe it is possible to well kill yourself from drinking excessive amounts of water I don't blame whoever sued the radio station contest holders, because well they should of known that too much water can be toxic.

as with anything in life even water must be taken in moderation. Everyone in hot climates are aware that you can die from heat stroke (caused by dehydration) however few people realize that hypohydremia (read lack of minerals and too much water in your system) can also kill you. In many cases it is much worse than dehydration can be. In essence everything in life must be taken in moderation.
