Do you keep up on your laundry or do you save it and do it all at one time?

Today I have the day off and love to have the freedom from housework and washing clothes so I can spend the day doing what I love to do. Last night I cleaned the house and did my laundry. I live by myself so I don't have alot so I try to keep up on it so it doesn't overwhelm me. Do you wait and do it all at one time or do you try your best to keep up so it doesn't get to be too big of a job?

Oh to be alone and only have your own laundry to wash, I remember those days, hummmm a life time ago,
I have 5 teenage boys, during the summer they roof, so when they get off work they shower and change, then they cant wear the same thing more than once which is good that they have clean habits, but It causes lots of laundry.
I do about 2 loads a day then all day long one day during the weekend. I give myself a laundry break on Wed since I work late that night.
Laundry for one person. I do remember that, but I kinda really love my kids and am thankful that they have good personal hygiene so I'll be happy doing laundry all the time. it is a never ending job at my house.
Peace and smiles

I miss those days. I have four girls and a husband. My oldest is nine years old. So this laundry thing has become one of those regular with out thinking things. I just do it and not even think twice about it now. Happy MyLotting!!

Oh dear...we are on the same boat! I'm 22 and living with my mom too. My mom even do two washing per day. I can't imagine if she's out to some where how my laundry room can be?

When our kids were home I did laundry everyday. Was washing for 5 and it kept me hopping all the time. Just my husband and myself here now so I can get away with washing about 3 loads a week plus towels and sheets. I wash whenever I get the urge so there is no pattern to what I do during the day anymore. Only work 2 days a week away from the house. I do try to keep weekends laundry free so if we decide to do something, I'm not bogged down with dirty clothes. My husband wears khaki's to work and a work shirt so I don't have to wash and iron dress shirts anymore. He decided to make the office attire casual dressy instead of suits.

hi jillhill,
i tend to save it and do it all at one time. i usually ignore it till i have no clean clothes to wear , and i am force to wash my laundry. i live with my sister and my mother, but we take care of our own laundry.

I usually wait until I get a full load at least. That is generally for clothes. But there are other things I do at the same time, such as towels and stuff. Where I live, there may not be enough space to hang out the laundry if I save and do it all at one time, say in the weekend. Since you're staying alone, I'd accumulate if I were you. No pressure at all! Sometimes, my husband will be shouting for particular underwear or shorts or socks from the bedroom. I will ask him to get more of those and not complain. I will also explain that it's not economical to wash clothes every day, must wait until full load.

I like to keep up with laundry with a family of four you have to do lots of laundry. We have been behind a bit seeing I cant do laundry right now but my boys have been doing a pretty good job of doing it for me.

I've been trying to keep up with my laundry since I'm now sort of married...lol! He's a neat freak and I don't want him to think I'm lazy. I'm not but laundry is not one of my favorite things to do. Plus I have too many clothes to need to do it very often.

I wish I was one who kept up on my laundry. Instead it gets piled up and then I find myself having to wash laundry in order to find something to wear or in order for my husband to have clean work pants. It stinks...but I am not a good housekeeper...

With having four children and then me and hubby I have to do washing almost everyday or else it just overtakes the laundry corner. I do not do too bad though I usually only do about one load a day so I am not constantly washing all day. I could not save it all up and do it once a week though it would drive me mad, especially when it was all dry and I had to put it all away.

Hi there!
Like you I live alone too and I don't have a lot of dirty clothes. I do my laundry weekly. Every weekend is my schedule. I make sure that I wash all my clothes for that week to prevent them from piling up.
I believe in doing laundry weekly it also helps me save laundry soap and water. cause washing machine uses up a lot of water.
Ciao!

Talk about airing your dirty laundry!! I have to confess I am a laundry saver. I have two teenage boys. I think they change clothing more than girls do. I am very lucky though because my hubby shares all the housework with me and he likes to do laundry. He washes the laundry and I fold and put it away. It works out just great!! I know I am lucky!!

First to tell you, i live away from home in a rented flat with my friends. I have been away from home for more than 7 years now and living alone is like living a family itself. You have to bear everything alone all those things which occur in a family.Fooding,laundry,cleaning.. This has always been a headache for me.
Though i try to be regular doing my laundry but sometimes i turn out to be lazy for doing so. And sometimes, The situation doesn't favour me.
Well, i have my office in weekdays so i only get time during the weekends for doing the laundry. Normally i would be the first person on my flat to get up in the morning or rather i must say in the afternoon(you can understand y i said so), So, i would do my laundry first else later everyone would be fighting to do their laundry first. And then i would give my clothes for ironging in the evening.
But lately, the weather hasn't been so good enough, so I just postponed my laundry work since i would be finding problems drying my clothes. It has been raining since last 2 weeks. To make conditions worse, the washing machine is also not working now. So i carried my clothes last sunday all over to my office campus to do my laundry over there.
Its such a trouble for me..

Hi Jill, I used to be very organised and would do all the washing on a Monday and have dried and ironed and put away the same day. Working now afternoon and evening on a Monday through that one out the window and these days it is as and when. I try not to let it pile up, but recently the ironing has got to a stage where I hide it LOL. Ellie :D

i to live by myself but i keep up w/my laundry. can't stand a bunch of ol' dirty clothes lying around. i go to my son's some on sun. & i have never seen as many dirty clothes in my life. that would drive me nuts but if that's the way they want to do it , it's none of my buisness. i really don't like leaving anything undone. if you need to do something do it & then it's behind you. both my sons are bad to put off things & they say i want everything done yesterday & they are right. that's probably why they put off , they got of me pushing them to do things & i admit i did.lolhave a good weekend & greetings from tennessee.

i do it about 1-2 x a week because my hubby doesnt have enough uniforms for work to last through the week and well if i waited to do it once a week it would be like more than 4 loads since i already do 4 as is with the 2x a week and i hate spending all day with the laundry where as 2 days of doing it i am using 2 days but not full ones of washing and hanging up etc..
