Wait for five minutes.. - Waiting for ..
India
August 14, 2008 11:48am CST
It happened to one of my friends in my office.. He received a call from his friend..today.. and his friend was on his way to his village, he called my colleague by phone.. and to which he said... " You wait in the bus stop.. i will be there within five minutes to pick you up" .. and that friend of him was waiting.. and this fella completely forget about the call..and was deeply involved in his work.. and never went to pick up his friend.. In despair.. he never called him again.. and left.. Only he remembered at the end of the day.. and my colleague dialed him and appraised the fact.. but it seems the guest of him is not satisfied with the response.. Any situations you have experienced?

Hi saivenkaat802003! I am always on time if I give my word to anyone that I will meet her/him. Don't like the feeling of waiting that is why I don't do this to anyone unless I am caught up in an emergency perhaps. However, this has happened to me several times and the one that I will never forget is when I was in London, five years ago and I was going to be picked up by a friend on the train/tube station. I am a foreigner in that place and I am not familiar with the place except for the map I have in my hand. I waited for her for two hours and since then I never trusted her word again. Take care always..God Bless!

Hi dear friend! I waited for her still and she picked me up finally after two hours. She apologized but things were not the same anymore. I just got tired of her broken promises which made me dislike her. Don't want to go in any details but she was not I thought she was. Sigh! lovelots..faith210

fortunately, it never happen to me before and i never did it to my friend as well... i always try to keep my promise as much as i can... and i am pretty strict with time... so if i say that i will be there in 5 minutes, i will try my best to be there in 5 minutes and not to be late... let alone completely forgotten about it... i wonder why his friend doesn't bother to call back again anyway... we are only humans anyway and humans do make mistakes... take care and have a nice day...

that was sad..promising to fetch but it never happened..and surely the friend whose waiting was frustrated or whatever..maybe the least he could do was call again the friend after 10 minutes..when he did not showed up..and remind him thats hes waiting...i always do that if i had to wait someone or made some appointments and been delayed..

Anger and frustration may have hurt his ego,.. a bit and probably that may be the reason he signed off in a hush..

Yeah to my husband a lot of time but nothing serious only when I am mylotting and he wants to use the computer I don't remember doing that to someone when it's serious matter but I might have and it might have been caused by things beyond my control like traffic, computer problem, power off etc I can imagine the person that waited was mad, because it happened to me quite a few times too I guess he will have to make up for it somehow

Here in our country people are expected to be late. To be on time is to be late for 30 minutes or so (we are Marc Jacobs fans, just kidding) I have a friend who live just 3 blocks away from us. She was one of closest friend and is one of my kids godparent. I always invite her during birthdays. She would usually arrives late, later than all the guest. When I call her she would say she's already on her way and will be there in 5 minutes. Then she would come like two or 3 hours after. The same always happen to our distilled water provider who is a house away from her. I was asking her if there is something wrong with the road on their block since her and the water delivery always comes late, but I guess it's within us. I too have the tendency to be always late.

May be you have to tell your friend the party time in advance, say 2'O clock.. if the real time for the party is 5'o clock... say two or three hours earlier..and remind her at frequent intervals..so that she may come in time.. A nice idea..Isn't it? Cheers and happy mylotting.

This is called "Indian Standard Time." Owing to the "rebirth" philosophy of India, people have unlimited time. 5 minutes could mean anything between fifty minutes to five hours to five lifetimes. If he can't pick your friend in five minutes, he will do in in the fifth birth. LOL Such things happen to everybody, my friend. That's why I never wait, neither do I ask anyone to wait. :) Cheers and happy mylotting

LOL.. You are correct.. most of us..just underestimate the time factor of other persons.. and just attach more importance to their jobs only.... Okay friend .. hold on for five minutes.. i will be back.. adding more comment to these lines..

I haven't done anything like that to someone because I value other people's time and, when I say I am going to be somewhere, I make sure I am there and, I make sure I am there when I say I will be there. I have had people tell me a time and arrive late. I hate it because it feels like they are disrespecting me and my time. Like they just don't care enough about me to be on time.

hmm, i've always experienced waiting for my friends that told me he'll be in the place for about 20 mins, but then again i'll be waiting for him for about 5 hours..after 6 hours of waiting and waiting, finally they arrived.. at first, i dont get it, why always late, but after some time, i've got immuned, and somehow, make them wait for me, just for the sake of teaching them how it feels to wait for almost ten years!! hahah, lol

Hi ya saivenkaat802003 Ahhh the poor chap. I don't think I have ever done anything quite so bad. Usually I will tell someone I am on my way and will there in about 5 minutes and end up being there about 10 minutes later but nothing worse than that!!

No, I never did and never do such experience the incident of your friend because if I would have to meet a meeting for someone then I have to do it because it is my honor to fulfill my promised to someone especially for my friend or family.

I am trying to be always on time! I can't recall letting somebody wait for me like this! I have a sort of experience like that. I have to wait for hours but not outside it's either in my house or in the mall. And I'm sure if that did happen to me I'll be very upset about it.

It happened to me but in a different situation. My friend has been calling me because she needs my company in going to Manila. We have a continuous discussion about this. The day she needs me falls at weekdays which mean that i need to file a vacation leave just to accomodate her request. Until such time the day expected has come. No texts or even a call from her so i made up the move to reach her. What she answered was she is already there and with another friend. How disgusted i was when i knew that she did not care about my time. It's just a wasted time talking to her and in giving her consideration.

That is not a good sign of friendship from your friend.. I think she has not trusted your call.. and she lacks signs of respect in her.. At least she could have called you even after fixing appointment with another friend, so that you could have not wasted your time in planning for her..

Well i have that kind of experienced just like what happened to your friends, My friend and i will planning to go to a mall then i went home to take a bath and then prepare to go, then i went back to my friends home then she is gone. She go first to meet her one friends also, suddenly i received a text from her to meet me at the parking lot and i went there then nothing happens to be there...i was so upset and never to talk to her again.. After a long month i accept her as my friend but i dont want to to go with here anymore...

Every day i finished at 2:30pm, while waiting my sis to pick me up, i used to play and hang around with my friends. Every time I called her, she always say " Its already near, just be patient, it won't take more than 10 min". Well the fact, i have to wait for an hour till her come, and i have to wait alone, cuz most of my friends already back home T_T

Such things always happens, I mean I for one have waited for such a long time...and it seems that I waited for eternity..and unfortunately no one came...Sigh, I guess word of honor and communication plays a great role in this type of situation...^^
