And my "baby" is now 18 years old! I can't believe she's already officially an adult! I feel positively ancient right now! LOL. She already got her birthday present a week ago. All she wanted was a three wheeled bike for adults. So I went out and spent almost $500 on an awesome red one for her. And it's so worth it. It's very sturdy, and she absolutely loves it. We won't be having a party for her until the 23rd since that's the only day that we can get all the family together at one time. So today, I went and bought her a really pretty bouquet of fuschia colored roses and orchids, a big slice of New York cheesecake, a bag of fancy chocolates, a balloon, and of course one of those obnoxious singing cards. Her card had the Hamster Dance as it's song. Hey...at least it put a smile on her face.
Anyone else having birthdays around this time? If so, a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you. Hugs to all.....Carryl

Age is an aazing thing. I's had to beliee how quickly some people grow. Well eeryone grows at the sae rate, it's just that tie sees to fly quickly. I wonder what it is aout people hat caue us to think time lies? I gues tie flies unless you are keeping ack o it. LOL We're too dang buy with our lives o keep track of tie, and hat's why they see to grow so fast.

Hi Carryl,
Happy birthday to your 'baby!' I sure can relate to this, as my daughter's just turned 17 in June. I can't believe she'll be in her final year of high school, come September. Where did the time go? Even though 18 is considered to be an adult, they'll still always be our babies. I don't think they'll ever understand this, until they have kids of their own. June is our big birthday month, as mine is actually the day before my daughter's. Take care.

You're welcome. My daughter was born the day after my 40th birthday, and she was/is a very special birthday gift indeed.

LOL! No, it was a really awesome Scooby Doo cake, and it had him next to a race car. It was too cute. But I only got to see a picture of it though. I had massive problems with my tummy the whole day and couldn't make it to the party at all. I felt like such the lousy mom too because of it. But things are much better and my baby wasn't mad at me to begin with. As soon as I get the picture loaded to my computer I'll post it here or send it to you so you can see what it looked like. Hugs!

Awww...thanks so much hon. Actually, my sister in law has become my party planner...and I'm loving it. I still have to go out and buy the hamburgers and hot dogs for the barbecue, plus a few condiments. But other than that I think it's all put together. I don't even have to worry about the cake. My niece loves to bake all sorts of cute and funny cakes (remember the litter box cake?), so I'm leaving that to her. LOL

Sorry I missed this one Kat. I hope your "baby" had a nice 18th birthday.
I couldn't imagine spending $500 on a bike (unless it was motorized ;p), but I've seen a couple of friends and co-workers spend that much on bikes for themselves. Well anyways, take care, have a nice day Kat.

I really couldn't see it either at first. But considering that that was all she wanted, and $500 is usually around what I spend on her birthdays anyway, I figured it would be very much worth it. And it really is an awesome bike...very sturdy. Thanks so much hon.

I guess everyone feels like that when they see their babies grow up.
And, yes, we do get old.
There are so many ways I keep seeing how older I've gotten and now I'm losing touch with the young world I'm in.
Congrats on your baby's coming of age !
I wish I could say have many more !

I know how you are feeling. My "baby" just turned 22 a couple of days ago. Where has time gone? He was not able to come home for his birthday, so I only gave him a card with money this year. He was telling me that this was the first year that he never got to unwrap any presents. I told him "welcome to adulthood" - your birthday is pretty much just another day to others and you seldom receive wrapped gifts. Its kind of sad, but I guess that is life. Anyway Happy Birthday to all!

It's hard when you're not close enough to be able to personally spend the time with your loved ones on their special day. But it's the thought that counts for sure...and you made sure he knew you didn't forget him on his birthday. Thanks for sharing that hon.
