This morning when I was having physical examination, some girls is experiencing nervousness while they are waiting for their turn.
According to them, they feel nervous if the Doctor is Male because imagine the Doctor will touch their body including their breast to check and he will see their sensitive parts of the body.
Hi there, female myLot members, what is your reaction about this? Are you ok whether the Doctor is Male or Female?

I have had both male and female doctors and I can't say that it every bothered me. Sometimes you don't have a choice of what gender your doctor is going to be.

MOst of the time women can choose their own docotrs, however I think it is good to be comfortable with either gender just in case you ar ein a situation where you can't control which docotr you get. For example, when I wa spregnant with my son, the only OB/GYN on the military base we lived near was male. I could have seen another docotr but the way the health care worked at the time I would have had to pay a lot of money. When my now ex went into training I movedback home and went to a female OB/GYN (I could choose whomeever because we were not near to a military base). Even then, towards the end of my pregnancy she went out of town and I had to be examined by the male OB/GYN on her staff. Also, when I actuall yhad my son, whomever was on call would deliver the babye, that could have been my docotr or a random Dr.

In your case, If I were you, I will also fine with the Male doctor since he is the one available in that location and paying a lot of money just to have female doctor's wherein you are comfortable is a different story since it involves a lot money.
Good to hear that you can have assorted doctor's and you don't have problems on it.

I don't have a problem with having a male doctor physically examine me. If they do something bad, I will make sure that justice is served. Besides, I'm not as "blessed" as other females so I don't think that I'll be as tempting for a male doctor.

I totally refuse to have a physical examination if the doctor is male... i would always request for a female doctor... even my gynecologist is female... it seems awkward and uncomfortable for me to be examined and touch by a person i do not know... even if he is a doctor...

I am not bothered whether my doctor is male or female as long as they are professional about it. I do not see why people are bothered, because there are very few doctors that abuse their position, if that is what people are worried about. My main doctor is female, but I tend to see a male doctor most the time, because my female doctor is only working part time and she is in high demand, so you have to book appointments week in advance to see her.

You have a point, but please understand that we do have different opinions and beliefs in life. So I guess it is just uncomfortable with them having a Male Doctor's but it is fine with us.
Even my wife I could not understand why she is not comfortable with Male Doctor, If I ask, she could not give accurate reason.
Have a nice weekend.

I am a female and it's totally cool with me if the doctor is male. They took a special oath and it involves being as professional as possible. And besides they have done it several times already and they are use seeing the human anatomy.

well, it happened many times to me that a male doctor is examining me as a female... i used to be shy and feel uncomfortable in the past when that happened... but as i grow up, i know that they are professionals and they are just doing their jobs... so now i don't mind if a male doctor examining me... as long as they can cure my illness, i am fine... take care and have a nice day...

I usually choose female doctors because im confortable with them this doesnt mean all the male doctors are doing something bad to public not like that , some are comfortable and some like me arent , i used to goto a male doctor who is of my grand father's age he treats me like his grandchild.. it was only for a normal thyroid check up so im okie with that but for dental treatment i only chosed a female doctor to my surprise there was one guest doctor visiting and he is giving me treatment.. my parent will always accompany me and he is a kind type so im okie with him now..

Dear friend,
I do had seen many male doctors examine female patients and also had some of the male doctors could call a female nurse for examining female patients and I hope the female patients too can also ask for a female nurse if wanted. Those efficient doctors who do surgeries may be are male and still the life of female patient is to saved. Hence it is necessary for that male doctor to save the female patient.

In our country if there is no available female doctor to examine a female patient the doctor should be accompanied by a female nurse..if i will be in the same situation i will feel nervous and shy too..but let us always think that doctors are just doing their job and will not take chances on you..if there is an available female doctor do not worry 'coz automatically she will be the one to examine the female patient..

Hi there male doctor, I will definitelty be more comfortable with a female doctor if one is available. I think that males are better generally, but I'd rather choose comfort over expertise! Sorry for the double standards. I don't mind having a male dentist and optometrist though. But other than that I really go with the female doctors.

I believe most doctors have no malice when they examine female patients but still I prefer a female doctor. I cannot blame the girls you encountered because the doctor although a doctor is still a man so it is quite embarrassing for a woman to expose herself to any man whether it be a doctor. So for me, I always choose a female doctor. Have a nice day!

Male doctor basically doesn't have malice to their patient since it is their
profession and they should be aware of such conditions.
However, we have individual feelings and opinions, there are females who cares about
their sensitive parts on the body, they don't want other people to see such parts of the body. But in this case, it will not be seen but touch also, so this is the reason why they feel nervous.

I see a female physician for all female type exams. I have for many years. Even my doctor who delivered my son 27 years ago was female. I find they are much more understanding and I am much more comfortable with them. My regular doctor is male and he does fine with my illnesses. But if I'm going in for a pap test etc I'm going to see a female.

I'd I'd prefer having a female do my checkup since I'm really not comfortable with a strange guy taking a look at my body parts. Lol. Might find out that I'm a guy too. Hahaha! But kidding aside, if I really don't have a choice, I'll just grit my teeth and bear it. What more if the guy is a gynecologist... oh dear....

If it is not mandatory where she lives then I believe any female patient can request that a female staff member be present in the room with the male doctor.

As long as the doctor is professional in his work, i don't see any problems with that. I am a male and I don't see any problems having a female doctor to do me check ups because I know that it's for my own well being that she is concerned. Well I've heard of some stories of some females who wish that their doctor was male especially if the doctor is handsome. Anyway doctors are doctors they should act professional and they shouldn't be feared.

i will say it all depends on the way one approaches professionalism, becoz some doctors r professional while others use their profession to advantage, moreover not everytime a doctor touches sensitive parts unless u r going for gyno...
