General theory of relativity applies to large heavenly bodies and quantum mechanics applies to sup atomic particles. For all these years the link between these two master theories has not existed. Finally scientists may have an answer. String theory combines these two main theories to form one universal master theory. A theory of everything. If this is proved man will never look at science the same way. It i supposed to be the mother of all theories. But its still in its infancy. So whats all this hyp over STRING THEORY anyway?
I know this discussion is not going to produce any responses but still im giving it a shot coz I love speaking out my mind here on MyLot.

well,my major is not physics, but in science fiction novels they have mentioned a lot about the string theory, truth be told,it is quite hard to be understood, but here's a video about the tenth demention, you may like if you are a fun of physics.

Its got a lot of "hype" due to the wonder of science, physics and existence itself. String theory also has subtheories with different conditions (all have closed strings, but some have open strings.) There are also theories/subtheories with different numbers of dimensions 10, 11, 26. String theory could be used to possibly explain a multitude of things (different dimensions, parallel universes/probability difference, higher beings perhaps, afterlife scenarios). The examples are related to each other but have slight differences depending on the approach to string theory. The most notable one would be the "vibration" of strings which would attribute to different action and motion at the sub-atomic level - translated to different items when one goes further when it comes to matter (quarks, electrons, atoms) and possibly different action when it comes to larger and notable forms of matter (people, energy, planetoids, etc)/parallel universes. Some also try to apply this theory to time travel. There are also those claiming that the afterlife or God/gods exist in the dimensions (out of the 10 or 11 or 26) that humans cannot perceive. Overall, the theory is still being worked on by scientists and scrutinized by others with a vested interest which also contributes to the "hype".
Before I forget Sachin, I can understand your last sentence in the discussion, I've lived it. But this subject has been discussed before, so not all hope is lost. I'll give you a couple of instances on my end in case your are interested

The Web of Life has been known for thousands of years and I think scientists are just coming to accept this theory which they named the string theory. The Web Of Life concludes that everything is connected as in a web and disconnection can occur when strands are broken effecting the interdependent strands.

String theory is a big deal because einstiens theories don't work at the sub atomic level. Quantum mechanics was developed to explain all of the sub atomic forces. String theory was developed to combine these theories to explain the four fundamental forces- gravitational, electromagnetic, the strong force of the nucleous, and weak force.
