I just don't understand they way gas prices have been latley, there has just been such a contrasting flucuation in price latley. I noticed last week prices were down to 3.66 which is the lowest it has been but two days later it was back up to 3.89. Three days later it was down to 3.76 then back up to 3.92. I just don't understand why it has to change in price so much in one week. Why can't it just stay at one price for one week and then change to another if it has to. Of course I didn't need any yet when it got down to 3.66, that's they way it always happens but hopefuly it will get back down there in the next few days.

What annoys me is that the gas companies have the complete monopoly and there is no alternative to gas and they know that that is why they have us by our short and curlies so to speak! If there was an alternative there would be competition and that obviously spells good news to the consumers! You notice it doesn't take long for it to go up in price but it takes ages to come down in price too! I use my car less and less now than I used to, but I can't help thinking that the gas giants are very greedy with their prices.

The prices are just too high altogether! I don't understand either how it can fluctuate so much so quickly.
And you are not alone on this because I always need gas when the price is the highest. It is Murphy's Law you know.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!

The gas prices are in flux due to the reaction from speculators to what is happening in the world.
*
We get most of our oil, the key component of gas, from an unstable part of the world. Whenever the Middle East or an oil region hiccups, such as when Russia and Georgia had their major dispute, gas and oil prices go bonkers because speculators get upset stomachs.
*
The fact that we've been saber rattling at Iran, fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and dealing with a dollar that isn't worth what it was doesn't help our situation. My advice, even should oil take a price dip, is to treat oil as an unstable commodity for the foreseeable future and get yourself a scooter as secondary transport.

My boyfriend says that he thinks they are bringing the prices down because the elections are coming up and that it happens in his country too. I use diesel and there has been a drop of 30 cents and while it is welcomed it still does seem ludicrous because then you wonder who's pulling the strings if its that easy because certainly thats not what I hear on the news and theres always some lousy excuses on the economy for the fluctuations. I was just paying 5.12/gal for my diesel which cut back my driving priveledges so much and that was three weeks ago and now Im paying 4.49/gallon but that still does not gloss over the reality that diesel was 3.50 and even just 5 years ago.

It is nice that they are going down now but if your husbands right then they will be going back up by next year.

It's been decreasing in my country. I guess we're a bit late compared to the world market, but I'm not complaining. I'm dreading the day gas will go up again. I did read that the price per barrel is going up again. :( Hopefully I'll have a job then so that my salary can offset the change in prices.

Here in Indonesia the gas prices I think always up, and never went down again, you're lucky though, to have it up and down, better than always up, hihihi...

With all this fluctuations, I run out of good things to think of what could have caused it. Do their supplies runs out in a matter of days and gas with a new price arrive also in a matter of days. Don't these companies knows the principles of buffer stocks?

It is all tied to the oil prices up one day down the next like a yoyo. I think the
Oil companies have some control of the oil prices although they pretend they dont.
I think you will see he oil prices relatively low until the election at which point they will be jacked up again. I think it is just the way of the world.
