Our tomatoes are finally coming in (they seem like they are really late this year!) and I have been loving it!
I like eating tomatoes plain just as a snack. Sometimes I will sprinkle sea salt & pepper on them. The other night I made tuna stuffed tomatoes with cheese for hubby & me and those were good too! Tomato sandwiches on rye or whole wheat are also good :)
Do you like tomatoes? How do you eat yours?

I forgot what it was called, but when I was in New Delhi years before, there was this dip they say was mainly made of crushed tomatoes along with other condiments and was used as a dip to a round unleavened bread much like the texture of the pita bread. The natives will just eat the bread dip it to the tomato dip and presto they have a sumptuous meal. Taste good actually.

I remember when I was a kid I used to eating tomatoes. We have a vegetable garden in our house in the country before and my father has lots of tomato plants. I ate them as candy since the tomatoes are very small. But now I can't eat a whole red tomato. Maybe 1-3 slices will do...or if it's mixed together with the scrambled eggs :)

I wish I had some tuna stuffed tomatoes with cheese! That sounds SO good! I like to slice up tomatoes and eat them like that, and occasionally I sprinkle a little salt on them. There is also nothing like a fresh BLT. Crisp bacon, crisp lettuce, and wonderful fresh tomatoes.

I love a tomato sandwich with just mayo. I like it with cooked sasuage which I was going to get and didn't but I might run to the store today and buy some put that on bread and yummy. I don't really care for it on ham sandwiches b/c it always makes everything fall all over the place. I love tomato soup. Oh one time I had a bunch of tomatoes and didn't want them to go bad so I froze them over night. The next morning I took them out peeled the skin off and cooked them down made a wonder red sauce over noodles. It was the best I have ever tasted and the first time I had fresh tomato sauce. Makes me want it again.

I love tomatoes and eat a lot of them. I used to have a garden many years ago, and I would plant a lot of tomatoes and I would preserve them in jars. I would make tomato juice and stewed tomatoes and spagetti sauce and salsa. I used to make about 50 jars in total. Things changed in my life and I didn't have a garden or tomato plants for a few years and then about 5 years ago I started buying patio tomato plants and I would just get little tomatoes from them, but I got a lot of them. I had them on my balcony since I lived in an apartment block and I would eat tomatoes from about July till about October. One year I had one plant that I got tomatoes from till December, but only that one time.
I like to eat tomato and bacon sandwiches, toasted of course, and in salads as well as many other ways. When I make a salad where the tomatoes are the main part of it, I use only tomatoes and onions and vinegar and salt and pepper. Let the stuff soak together for about an hour, in the fridge, and then eat. It is soooo good that way. Try it.

Hi Vera. Yes I love tomatoes. I like eating my own made tomato salad. I put tuna fish, fried peanuts and a lot of onions chopped into tiny bits into it. Yummy! It makes my mouth watery at this very moment.

Ooooh that's great! I just came in from the garden from picking our tomatoes, we have been getting them all year though, and with that we have canned twelve quarts of tomato sauce and then last night I canned three quarts of salsa. I picked a bunch today to continue to make my delicious salsa sometime soon when I get off mylot haha, it is so much better than store bought let me tell you!!! Tuna stuffed tomatoes sounds really good to, what exactly do you do in the recipe? Do you just hollow the tomato out and put in tuna, is it tuna with mayonnaise or just plain or seasoned tuna? Tell me more about that, it sounds like it can be really good!

It is good! First I scoop out the insides of the tomato, then you add your favorite tuna salad recipe (I don't do mayo, so mine is pretty much just plain tuna w/a little sea salt) - then I top with shredded cheese. There are other recipes online you might like - you can cook if you want, i like them cold :)

well i don like tomatoes at all as they are too grainish most of the times so i try to avoid it. and it has less benefits than the other vegetables u know. so i would advocate for the usage of less number of tomatoes to be eaten as this would even help u in a better health and body ll remain in good condition.

true there are other healthy veggies (like spinach, which I also like and goes great with tomatoes!) - it is a healthy snack though opposed to chips or cookies :)

Hmmm...I remember making a tomato jam before. I used to attend a seminar on how tomatoes are preserved and I like to make it into a jam. Most often, I do eat tomatoes fresh. In some of our meals tomato will act like a pair to say fried fish or other green veggies or 'itlog na pula' (salted egg) and the whole family will enjoy eating together sumptuously.
