8 year old suicide

I just read an article in the newspaper that says an 8-year old boy committed suicide. Her mother who is 30 years old said the boy hanged himself with a belt in their kitchen on his birthday. After she scolded him. The police found marks on the boys neck which appeared to be that of a rope.
In the police investigation the height from which the child was supposed to be hanging would have enabled him to put his feet on a ledge in the kitchen.
The mother has vehemently denied killing her son. The father will not talk. The father of the son will not cooperate with the investigation. The police will study the autopsy of the child.
Do you think the little boy committed suicide? Does an 8 year old mind capable of doing it? Or could it be the little died unexpectedly from his parents hands? What do you think?

I don't believe on that! A boy could not attempt nor kill himself. He is too young to comprehend those things. All they want is to play & real fun. Not kill themselves.

The whole situation is beyond depressing. Unfortunately yes an 8 year old IS capable of such a thing and there have been many sad cases of children younger than ten years old taking their own lives. But there is just something about this particular instance though that doesn't seem right. Why is the Father not co-operating? Did the little boy hang himself with a rope or a belt?? All very, very sad and quite suspicious really. God bless his little soul.

Thanks for your reply.
On the newspaper it says the mother said the little boy use belt. On the internet it says the belt is made of cloth. And the police says it has a markings of a rope. I also get confused about this news.

I am not going to conclude from just this little peice of information whether it may be suspicious or not, look at the Jon Benet Ramsey case where people were so convinced it was the parents who killed their child and we still don't know the truth but they have not been convicted guilty. What I do believe is that it is very possible that the boy could have been experimenting and something went very wrong and no, I do not discount the parents being capable of killing their child because unfortunately it is all too often heard in the paper of this very thing that makes you shake your heads. While almost all mental illnesses do not entirely develop until a child is well over 8 years old (at least by 4 years) this could be a reason a kid would want to kill themselves suffering form bad exposure of the actions of others through imitation or perhaps being Bipolar, like me. The Depression is unbearable and their could be rare cases where it has reached a level in someone so young but I doubt it. I know there is a game that we used to play where we would 'choke' eachother and this could be the child trying to mimic the actions he has seen, this is just some alternative. I tried the link but it did not bring up the story sorry.

Your right, 9 times out of 10 the ones closest to the victim are involved and thats why they suspect them first, its hard to imagine.

Thanks for your opinion. I hope its not the mother. Mother gives birth to that boy, how could she do it? I'm just hoping that the mother is not involved.

It's possible that the mother killed her son.
If she's capable of hitting his son physically, it's possible that she can overdo his hitting since she's a hot-headed woman.

I can't say that the parents did it because 1st,there is no witness,2nd,there is no strong proof that the mother killed the boy and third, the investigation is still going on and I guess all we can say is just some predictions and something like that.In that situation,it's really difficult to say who is the killer but it's really bad to hear about that.God bless and have a nice day

I have sadly been around depressed 6-8 year olds. If they get it in their head and are not properly medicated or sent to therapy or preferably both they could do such a thing. One of the kids I used to babysit for was like that. Of course, he also had cerebral palsy and a brittle bone disease. The last thing this kid needed was to have psychotic episodes which he did occasionally as well as depression. His parents were very smart to put him in therapy and give him medicine. Now he's fine. I mean, he still has the conditions but he doesn't try to hurt himself anymore.
However, this just seems a little too suspicious to me. Does the child have a history with mental health issues? I think the parents probably did it, but I can't be sure.

Thanks for your comment cripfemme.
I think the little boy doesn't have history of mental illness. If he has, I think the mother would have mention it to the police right away, to lessen the investigation process.

Its so sad. Children are very sensitive. They should not have scolded on his birthday.

it's really sad, that this happen on his birthday. But maybe the mother just want to discipline the little boy. It's so hard to believe.

This is how I see it. The boy supposedly hangs himself with a belt, in the kitchen. The police think the marks on the neck look like it was a rope rather than a belt. There's two adults in the house, as far as we know.
Now here's the thing. Not even taking in to consideration about the things that were found at the scene, wouldn't you think that a kitchen, the most trafficked point in a house, where the adults were probably hanging at, would have noticed if a 8 year old boy came into the room, with a belt in his hand, stepped up on a chair and then the table (and wouldn't there have to been time to hang the belt on whatever to hold it?)wouldn't have noticed something not right?

Yeah, I agree with you, there should be people in the kitchen. Especially it was after school hours. And the hanging, how could he hang himself. With a little hands, I still can't imagine, how he did it.

I can not believe an 8 year old can do that? and yea, why the marks found to be that of a rope and he hanged himself with a belt? could an 8 year old do it himself using belt or even rope? I don't think so. I pity the boy very much. The parents should be punished for this. No matter how unruly a child would be, it is not a good option to kill him if he is hard to control.

Thanks Bebs for replying.
I don't know how the police will investigate a case like this if the father of the boy will not cooperate. I hope they find out soon, what, how, why, this happened.

In this time and age with what the kids are reading and watching!! i will not be surprised if this young boy hanged himself. But then again, I don't see how the scolding would have led to the hanging unless the parents are not saying it all. My opinion, there is some very smelly fish all over this story.

Maybe the scolding involves spanking. But if spanking is painful, hanging yourself could also be more painful. It's really a mystery.

Hello agent_alice,
Yes most definatley one for the parents killed the little boy, she said he hung himself with the belt and the police said a rope, there is a big defference between a belt and a rope, so why won't the husband cooperate? there is something not quite right, I think they both should be charge, no child that age would hang themselves when they get told off, they usualy go outside or go to their room to sulk, nope there is something wrong.

Thanks for your reply. Stay in room to sulk, I've been doing that when my mother scold me. Yes, there is something wrong there. We'll just keep on checking the update of the news. I hope they will post it on the newspaper again.

Sounds like the parents... but things have to be PRETTY BAD in the home if an 8 year old follows thru with it. I don't know, kids are resilient like no other and seems the way the dad is acting that it could very well be foul play. Mom sounds like she's trying to cover up something maybe...? On his birthday too... this story makes me so sad :(

I think the parents could not sleep well, because this happen on the birthday of their child. And whatever they are trying to cover. The truth will come out soon.

i really don't dare to make a conclusion from this case... today the world had gone crazy and everything is possible... so i think that it is possible that the 8 years old boy hanged himself... it is so sad though that he hang himself because of being scolded by his mum... i hope the police can reveal the truth after the autopsy is done on the child... take care and have a nice day...

Probably it is the mother or father who did this.

The eight years old kid can't think of the sucide but he is forced to die. i mean that he is murdered and killed. I think this guy is being too loaded to their parent. But the culprit are the parents and they should be punished and jailed. They must take care of him but they are unable to care him and finally they killed him. May god bless him in the heaven.

Thanks for your comment kisanchhantyal. Wow its a long name.
If the parents are the culprit, and will be jailed, what will happen to his brothers? Aside from reading the newspaper, I also search the news at the internet on daily star, www.dailystar.com, about this case. The journalist have mention that he has two more brothers ages 12 & 13, and the mother is pregnant.

Unfortunately, yes, an 8 year old mind IS capable of doing that, I have seen my little cousin threaten to do it so many times, because he knew something was wrong with him and he didn't know why, he was bi polar, and the way they figured that out? He begged to go to a doctor and do tests. We were lucky that we saw the desperation and manage to help him with it.
But...why would there be rope marks around his neck if he used a belt? Do you still have the link to the story?
And with the father not cooperating, does that not make him a suspect?

Oh my goodness...yeah, I'd want to question oh so much more the mother, even though it would be heart wretching....even though they don't seem that way in the article....but then again, I blame the writer of the article for that.

I don't think that an 8 year old boy would do this. He probably asked for too much on his birthday that his parents got mad and hung him.
The parents probably did this. Where do kids get these thoughts anyways? How was he strong enough to do this?
Parents.
