Do you sometimes feel you lived on an island all by yourself?

Today is one of those days where people are annoying the hell out of me. Some twit on AOL has me so pissed off right now I'd like to toss her off the local pier. She has been bad mouthing a mother of a disabled child, only because the mother said she was frustrated in trying to get help. Then there was the bank. Why do we have banks anyway? Some jerk got into our account and withdrew almost 200 dollars so I spent the next two hours trying to straighten that out. And then the phamarcy goofed up on one of my prescriptions and it cost me a fortune. And then there was the idiot who drove by my small road with this huge truck and managed to sideswipe my car and didn't stop! I had to call the police and file a report and was told that I could turn it into MY insurance. Why do I have to pay - THEY hit ME! Not to mention the fact that I have a 500 dollar deductible so it probably wouldn't pay much anyway. And then I finally doze off for a well deserved nap (since I haven't been sleeping well) when a telemarketer calls and wakes me up! I swear, some days I really wished I lived on a tropical island all by myself. Sand, sun and surf and no more morons to deal with. Do any of you ever feel like this?

I felt like that about 1981. So, my wife and I bought 20 acres in the middle of no where and moved there. We can not see the road or any of our neighbors from our yard. As to putting up with morons, my problem is solved, but not my wife's.

Normally I'm lucky enough not to get too much activity where I live. I am in an adult only mobile home park and I live in the back wooded part of it so I rarely get alot of people by. Hence the narrow road that goes past. Apparently today was just my lucky day to have to deal with more people than I care to.

I feel more this way when the people around me disappoint me big time, sometimes I feel I only hear from people when they want something, this is when i feel like packing up and living on an island just with some beautiful animal friends...

it never occurs to me that i want to live alone on an island no matter how annoying my life is... i can't stand being alone... it is just too lonely... i am grateful if i still have people around me even though they can annoy me sometimes... it just shows that we are humans and we are unique... just have to learn to accept each other's differences and cope with the daily things that we face no matter how annoying it is... i am sorry that you are having such a bad day... hope you will feel better soon... take care and have a nice day...

Hi Tess - To paraphrase Oscar Wilde - "the greatest pleasure man can have is to rip your phone out and head off to a deserted beach. Plug the phone into the sand. Chill. You know it will never ring." Coffeemate (my partner) has these weird thoughts. He says "all I need is a spot on a remote seaside cliff on an uninhabited island. A shack to keep out the rain, a bed to sleep on, few books to read, some music, solar power for reading at night and listening to music ...a man of simple needs am I - says he. "Is that all?" I ask. And he says "just a helicopter to get me quickly into town when I want to take you out to dinner and a show". Hmm smart a@@. I know the feeling. I woke up late. Getting late to drop the kids off at school. Stress to dress-up for an early morning appointment.. the car would'nt start because one of the kids left the door open yesterday!! AA has a 20 minute delay... Neighbour's pit bull escaped and terrorised my six year old while waiting for the AA to start my car. On to school..... Turning left a kid steps off the kerb on my blind-side. I am racketing and Coffeemate is smirking. Remote island... no thanks. I live in town and love life full on! Coffeemate really needs that chopper if he wants to go. lol.

Sometimes life gets very hard, seems that you had a very bad day, if that happened to me for sure I would love to be in a island.

Today has been a bad day for you, I hope tomorrow is a better day. Sometime I wish I lived on a tropical island all by myself too. If I had a day like yours I think I would still be crying, I would have a very bad headache, I would be grouchy, and no one close to me would be safe. Drink a cup of green tea and relax. You deserve it.

Oh yes yes yes…specially on weekends. Throughout the week I am working my a$$ off getting up at 5am and throwing my body in the bed well after 12pm and dealing with who and what and how in between only God knows of and of course there is little appreciation as what I do is only ‘expected’ of me! And on weekends there’s the entire bl00dy household to be taken care of …believe me, I really wished sometimes I could just walk away informing nobody and spend some days entirely with myself. Gawd…its been ages I have actually been with MY OWN SELF

Sounds like you need a day off to relax. Whats the point in going thru all that every day if you don't take time for yourself now and then? Thanks for the reply.

Good grief Tess!! What a day you've had!! Glad you weren't hurt though!! Well I've been having days just like that since the end of April and it's not let up yet!! I'm about to go insane having to deal with everything and more since then. Sometimes I wish I could just run away and never look back!!

I wish I am left all alone sometimes when my mood is so down, that happens with almost every person i suppose, but that is only temporary thought (including you), with time, we will get over it....i accept that you had a long ordeal, but whenever you are under stress thinking about what ahd happened to you, just think of all the other people who are even so pathetic than you who could not even to manage to survive and mainly the ones who have a critical health problem...we are fortunate when to compared to them i guess...so, lets give it some time and come over it in a short span...all teh best to you...dont lose hope...lets live (if not peacefully at least happily) until we die

LOL You are right - except - I DO have several critical health problems and I'm disabled. So easy to see why even the simplest of problems can send me over the top. Thanks for the reply.

At the moment, I'm having problems at home, those who were at my discussion would know what I'm talking about. And I really feel like getting away from it all and live on a tropical island all by myself (and my daughter and hubby, of course). Note: hubby not the problem!

Hi Tess, I'm sorry to hear your having such a horrible day! You sure don't deserve this. If I were you, I'd take the phone off the hook, and just go lie down and shut the door for awhile. I've had days like yours and they can be pretty distressing. You deserve a break!! Happy MyLotting, Char

Thanks Char. I know I'm using caller ID to screen calls tonight. Tomorrow if it quits raining I think I'll go over on the pier and watch the fishing boats. Maybe take some time to unwind for awhile.

What a horrible day you've had, Tess! No wonder you feel like shutting out the human race for a while. I must admit, I'm a bit of a recluse anyway and prefer quiet activities and my own company. The desert island would be fine if it had some shade and a huge bookcase!

I really like to imagine myself living on an island away from stress and pressure. I would imagine it as paradise. There would be all my favorite foods, a big mansion on the island, incredibly fast internet (lol), my favorite possessions like my teddy panda, and it would always be the right temperature. I would also have a robotic butler. Yeah, that would be the life.

i do sometimes because i seem to be the only person in my house that cleans it! my kids are lazy and my hubby is tired after a long day (he also does all of our cooking!) but my daughters seem to be very lazy lately! :-(

I know the feeling. My partner is the only one that works. I am disabled. Problem is I seldom feel well enough to clean, and he is too tired after working. So nothing gets done. Wish I had a couple of daughters here to motivate to clean! LOL

Yes, i usually feels like that. It's too bad, I feel like I was empty inside. My mother uses to say that it's common in my age. She says it's because I still don't know what I going to do with my life, my job etc. Well, I'm 16.

Your mother is right and wise. Give it time, it will get easier for you once you figure out where your life is headed. You are so young. :) I barely remember being 16.

It's really hard to live now tons of problems are always there. My family now was suffering hardship that really affects us especially me. I always seek my mom looking in one direction in an endless boundary thinking where our debths be paid and when our daily allowance at school could get and daily needs. Sometimes I can't help to us myself why this things happend, but i know all of this was God's plan and theres always day after tomorrow for us and to everyone.
