Varieties? Yeah, that makes me wonder. Puppy mills are no good. Plus they sell dogs with serious problems that you may not be aware of up front. I don't think I'd have to think about not getting one. I would just keep walking. Varieties just doesn't sit well with me. Usually signs say mixed breed pups or if they are purebreds than the type of dog is listed. 'Varieties' means several dogs could be mating at once and a medical history is not present from the parents or the offspring.

Well, they could mean different colors by "variaties" I guess, but that would still indicate that they were backyard breeders of multiple dogs, since most litters are not that large. A real breeder would usually only raise one or maybe two breeds of dog, and would probably not have 18 puppies for sale at once. It is probably either a backyard breeder or a mill situation. If you were to go see the puppies, I would ask a lot of questions before getting a dog from these people.

If this is an individual then yes, I would say it is a backyard breeder that doesn't care much about the animals. I could be wrong, but how can you care for that many dogs and puppies? Are they vet checked? Registered dogs? Up to date on all shots? I would want to see proof of all of the above and the living conditions before I would buy from this person.

I think it is just a word. I don't think it necessarily means that the pups are from a puppy mill. That being said I would check it out very thourouly before thinking about buying a dog from them. You want to make sure you are getting a good pup.
