Do you ever find that you are speaking to yourself, out loud or in your mind?!:)

Do you ever find that you are speaking to yourself out loud or in your mind? Sometimes, I do not even realise I am doing this out loud and until my daughter says 'pardon?' and when I say it's ok, I was speaking to myself, she laughs and we laugh about it together!:-D Sometimes, it may be that I am trying to figure something out, like a schedule or similar when trying to concentrate. Sometimes, I am telling myself off for being really stupid or not thinking something through. Sometimes I am really mad at someone and muttering something in my head or once I've left the room.. Like this one time I was very mad at my superior colleagues at work and I went into a server room to change server tapes and was talking to myself about it out loud. With all the noise in the server room and being so engrossed in my 'talking to myself?', I didn't realise there were two other people crouching over in one of the aisles installing a new server and when I looked down and saw them, they were looking up at me like I was crazy and we all burst out laughing! I was glad I was not swearing during that long chat to myself! haha:) Don't you think it's funny and hilarious when you find that you are doing this and didn't even realise it? You kinda get that momentary 'I am running mad' feeling then it's like 'oh well, that's sorted then'.. Do you ever speak to yourself? Do you ever find that you are speaking to yourself? Do you know people who speak to themselves all the time? Do you think this is not really a sign of old age but increases as we get older...or am I just crazy?!

Talking to yourself whether it be loud or just in the mind is completely, well for me, normal. It isn't being insane. It is just a way to make sure that you are still you, that you know what you are doing, what you are thinking. I guess it would prove helpful if you talk to yourself once in a while. A lot of people do this I think but they keep it a secret because they think it is funny. It is funny, yes, but it is true and we all do it. We have unanswered questions that only us too can answer so we ask ourself. And when there is no other person to talk to, why not talk to yourself if you think you are sensible enough? Sometimes that answers are just within us. Talk to yourself and you'll surely know more of the inner you. :)

I do talk to myself and, for all the same reasons that you listed that you talk to yourself. LOL! When I am berating myself for something stupid that I have done, or not done, when I am complaining about someone having done something stupid in traffic, at work, wherever. I probably talk to myself more than is healthy but, I try to see it this way...I am my own best listener! LOL! I never talk back to myself when I am talking to myself. LOL! I basically just listen! LOL! I let myself get it all out and then I am over it and I feel better! I don't really think that it is crazy that we talk to ourselves. Think about it, when we are kids, we talk to ourselves a lot throughout the growing process. So, why wouldn't we continue to do so as adults? I also sing in my car and with my iPod while I am cleaning the house on Sundays. So, I sort of think that I sometimes like the sound of my own voice but, then again...that isn't true because I cringe when I have heard my own recorded voice. So, I just think that I like to make noise! LOL!

That's right about doing this while we were kids, mine does and I vaguely remember doing it but it had seemed to fade out as I do not recall doing this years ago. It seems to have been offset with motherhood, trying to remember many things at a go! and keep up with the juggling..

I can honestly say that I have an tendency to talk to myself and I will sit there and ask myself a question and people will ask me what I am talking about and I will say I am talking to myself, and then they will give me weird looks, but honestly I think everyone talks to themselves from time to time, whether it be on purpose,or without knowing that their doing it.

Hey marina, Yes I have done this many times. I don't always realize that I am talking to myself out loud. It kind of just happens. Sometimes I'm totally unaware that I am even doing it. I can have a complete conversation with myself and not realize that I'm saying it out loud. It is quite embarrassing when you realize that you have been saying something and someone has heard you. The first thing you wonder is if they are thinking that you are a complete lunatic. I don't think that we should be so hard on ourselves because I don't think that we are alone in it. I think that there are plenty of people that talk to themselves out loud all time. And I don't think it is a necessarily a sign of old age because I have seen it done by people who are young too.

I have had the odd occassions when I have not realised that I was thinking out loud and it is funny when caught off guard Yup, I do not think it's a sign of old age at all, but if we do it when young, then we are likely to do it more when we get older

no, you're not weird... i also talk to myself whenever i'm alone, like in the front of the mirror, while crossing the street, while walking and the like.. i always talk like something in japanese if i cross the street alone since i am really afraid to cross the street, seeing stuffs i dont like, for example spiders ,while walking, when im expressing my anger and i dont want others to know. Its my way of letting my emotions go out without anyone understanding me.. its a form of letting your feelings go outside you.. its a form of self-relief.. Just like you, i also found myself asking if i am that weird.. or am i the only person doing it.. i was also alarmed but then i asked my friends if they would ever speak to themselves too.. i was really happy and surprised that they too speak withn themselves.. You know that feeling when you feel that you're not alone in this world.. so that's it.. i think its normal.. its not a sign of old age, i can guarantee that.. my young cousin about 5 years also talks to herself.. its an innate ability, i think..

I find myself doing this quite often. You are not going crazy. Sometimes you gotta talk things through with yourself. It helps sometimes to hear your own voice either inside your head or in your own ear. Believe me everyone does it!

I speak to myself all the time. Sometimes because I'm making plans in my head, often because I'm mumbling about something my other half has done! I usually know when I am speaking to myself but sometimes I find I am speaking to myself when I never intended to such as when I was trying to speak to someone else who is not listening and then I will continue the conversation with myself when I realise that no one is listening. One thing I find is that whenever I am deliberately talking to myself, more people are inclined to assume I am talking to them and ask what I said but less people listen if I am actually speaking to them!

This is something very normal and everyone does, this is called loud thinking.I often do that but even I did'nt knew I do this once my sister asked with whom I am talking then I told her that I was thinking and planning. Now I have become a bit conscious so I have controlled myself.

You're right about it being 'thinking out loud' but at times you're not thinking and just getting a few things off your chest and it kinda helps

Yes, I am crazy. I am talking to the loony bend, and now I am expecting an answer from myself. Just send in the men in the white coats. I talk to myself, and I have always done that even since I was a child. I find it is a way for me to solve problems and to remember things. I am careful to not talk out loud. I sort of mumble and that drives people crazy because they want to hear what I am talking about. One time my husband asked what are you talking about and I gave him a blank look of astonishment and said "nothing."

There are lots of people who talk to themselves, some trying to sort out something in there mind and some do it due to some kind of madness. It happen to me sometime when i try to sort out some problems or to get out of some difficulties. Recently my family thought that that im mad because i was talking to myself to sort a problem. People around us will think that we are really mad but its in our nature. And we cannot do anything. This also happen when we are stress. Every people in this world talk to themself. Some will do it in their minds and some will do it as if they are talking to someone else

some kind of madness wondering how you can differentiate the two! It is a great stress reliever and is definitely better than shouting at someone and regretting it later!

Hi Marina, I do that sometimes; however most of the time, it's all in my head. When I talk out loud to myself, it's when something happened, and there is nobody around that I can share with or rant at. So the first thing I do, when I got to any place that I can be alone, and start thanking God (if it's something nice ) or start cursing that***** when I am !

No way, you're not crazy.I do this all the time.In my case I noticed since losing all my friends(this happened after I lost lower part of both legs from diabetes, and the same friends that I always kept my door open for abandoned me when I needed THEIR help) that I am doing this all the time since I have very few people to talk with. Also,I suffer from a really bad case of insomnia, and when the body AND mind don't get proper rest they don't function very well.In any case I bet all peopletalk to themselves on a regular basis but don't want to admit it.The same goes for talking to themselves out loud.Everyone does it and it's only natural as far as i'm concerned.Crazy? No way, don't be hard on yourself.

For me, it's a common occurence. I do it every moment of every day. I even talk to other stuff sometimes; things like "That's not what I told you to do", etc. Most people that know me think it's weird. But, I do it and it serves as a release therapy; at least I think. I've been doing it for as long as I can remember. Sometimes, I repeat whole conversations to myself, either they happened or I'm imagining how it will or should happen. I don't think it's unhealthy.

Hahaha, Speaking to myself out loud is a kinda habit for me. I usually does. Im in a habit of practising thing that i wanted to say to someone. And there are times even when im creating a text message to my mobile phone, i speak it loud that it cause my fellow officemate to ask me if im speaking with her. And yes i think its funny but im used to it. And i think my friends are used to it too and they no longer thought that im crazy.
