Do men really hate shopping?

Won't it be a generalization if I say "men hate shopping"? I am a woman, and I hate shopping, and I have heard that women are supposed to be fond of shopping. In fact, I go shopping only when I am forced to, and even then, I can't wait for it to get over. I finish it off as soon as possible, and I postpone shopping as much as I can.
Are you an exceptional case like me? Are you a man and love shopping? Or are you a woman and hate shopping? If you are crazy about shopping, what is so alluring about it?
Cheers and happy mylotting

some men do like shopping, onli that they shop for more luxury things like car, phone, computer etc....and i do hav guy friends who love 2 shopping, and they r good at giving advise too ^_^ and for me, i'm the shopping freak, hahhahah, one of the reason is, shopping is also part of my career (i'm dealing with fashion, so shopping is kinda like doing research for me), and 2nd things, i luv it becoz i felt that i can reduce stress when i buy some good things for myself ^_^

I'm a woman and I love to shop, even if the stuffs I'm going to buy are not for me. What's so alluring about it? Nothing really, I think for me, I just love looking for things and looking AT things. I even enjoy window shopping. Just going around the mall or wherever looking around and checking out stuffs. And if I'm pissed off, shopping can be a good therapy for me, an expensive one though coz I tend to buy impulsively when I'm in a bad mood.

I have often wondered what the thrill is with shopping. People are sometimes surprised that I don't enjoy shopping as if every woman is programmed to like it.
I quite like shopping for presents for my kids' birthdays and I might enjoy shopping a bit more if I had the money to buy things I wanted. I could perhaps understand why people with money to buy what they like enjoy shopping, knowing they can get something for themselves. I will, however, never understand why people who can't do that still enjoy shopping.
Grocery shopping is the worst thing. At least if I'm getting clothes or buying presents, there is a choice of more shops and I don't have to go somewhere that's crowded. Perhaps if I didn't need to check the price and realise I can't afford what I want anyway then I might not be so averse to shopping.
My partner, on the other hand, seems to like shopping. I hate going shopping with him because he is a typical "girl" when it comes to shopping. No thought for how much is being spent (unless it's absolutely necessary), looking around twelve different shops only to come back to the first one, "window shopping", wandering really really slowly around boring shops and then complaining at me having a look at the one interesting thing we've seen that day!
So, anyway, I am a woman who hates shopping and my partner is a man who likes shopping.

i'm with you. i'm a woman but i absolutely hate shopping. i couldn't be bothered to shop. whenever i accompany someone while they're shopping, it's always with great reluctance and i always wish for her to put me out of my misery and just pay for everything already. all the women i've known have thought of me as weird for not liking to shop as much as the average female. can't help it, i'm not the average woman!

Same here! Some of my female friends used to invite me, and I used to accept because I did not want to hurt them. It drove me real crazy. :)
Cheers!

I am a woman and even when I was a teen ...I always, always hated shopping. I find it boring and frustrating and lets not forget...expensive! It has never held any allure for me. Raising 4 girls, you can only imagine my frustration at their desire to shop and shop and shop. I was always the chauffeur. Just the other day, I took my 14 yr old and her friends to the mall to shop. I gave them times to meet me as they didn't want me following them around. I checked out the craft store and bought a couple of things and then I got myself a coffee and went back out to my car and read a good book. After a couple of hours, I met up with them and we all had lunch. I then went into target and got some cleaning stuff and cleaned my car out and met up again...still they were not done...so I got another coffee and read more of my book. It was a good day for all. They all felt bad about taking so long, knowing that I was alone. Not to worry...I don't get bored easily. If I personally need something...I know what I want..I get it and get out of the store as quickly as possible.

They were shopping and shopping....being teens. I really didn't mind. I am very patient and I keep myself occupied. We didn't get our trip to the beach this year because every day I seemed to have off, it rained. She had a fun time so I was fine with it. I pretty much expected it to be an all day thing so i came armed with reading material and notebook etc. I got some excersise walking thru just to see if anything grabbed my attention. It didn't. I'm not a shopper. Men are not the only ones who hate it, for sure.

The only kind of shopping I like is food shopping. It is so fun for me to prepare the week's menus and then make the shopping list and then to spend hours in the store reading labels, comparing prices, and making my selections. I do not like any other kind of shopping though, nor would I EVER want to take a man with me when I go!

I love bargaining for fish. It is so mentally stimulating and entertaining that I don't even feel it is "shopping." It is just buying fish. :)

Depends on what I'm shopping for. If I'm shopping for stuff I like, I tend to enjoy myself. If I'm shopping for something that I don't like, I just want to find what I'm looking for and get out of the place.

I love shopping. Men likes to shop also but they're more in control than women. They only shop if they really want or need something and if there are stuff that catches their interest.

Yes,men shop once in a while but when they see stuff they like, they will buy it even the price is high. They will spend for it.

I don't think we do, no. We just don't like to turn it into this massive occasion like women do! We know what we want, we walk in and get it; and then we are done! Having to go from store to store to store trying on every single item we can get our hands on and then going BACK to the first store just to make sure again has NO appeal to us! lol. And even when we do buy something we are not inclined to question our purchase the minute we get home either! lol. As long as shopping is a simple and straightforward proposition for me then I enjoy it. I do like grocery shopping most of the time though! Especially if I forget to eat before I go! lol.

I am a woman. I hate shopping. It isn't only men that hate shopping. I don't mind
grocery shopping so much, but I hate shopping for clothes. The reason I hate to shop
for clothes is because I have trouble finding things that fit me properly, ever since
I lost 30 pounds. I am inbetween sizes. Size 13 is a little too big and baggy and size
11 is too tight. Why don't they make a size inbetween. I know you may be thinking that
there is size 12, but no. Size 12 is size 11-12 and size 13 is 13-14. I think there
should be a size 12-13 but there isn't.
So I hate to shop for clothes. I also have a problem with buying pants that are long
enough for me. I am not all that tall at 5'7 1/2" but I have very long legs and need
my pants to be 36" inseam and most pants they make are 33" inseam. So I have to go
to a specialty shop called Tall Girls and pay 5 times as much for my pants, as in the
mall stores. I have to pay $100 for a pair of pants that most people get away with paying
$20 for in the malls. Not fair.
Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend,
Have a good day, Chris

I hate shopping! My husband loves shopping. Talk about your opposites!
Actually, I think my husband likes spending money, not so much shopping. If it's stuff for him or NOT a necessity, then he loves shopping, but if it's groceries or nothing for him, then he hates it. I hate shopping all around. I do it when it's necessary and try to get it done and over with. I abhor malls! My mall is Walmart. I do all my shopping at Walmart if possible. It's quick and all in one spot. In and out; just like I like it.

Men don't necessarily hate shopping. The thing that they hate shopping is when they accompany a woman in shopping because women takes too long in deciding what to buy. Of course, men should carry what the women their with buy. What if a woman is really a shopaholic, the man who accompany her will really suffer in the time. I couldn't believe that you hate shopping. I love shopping and buying things for myself. Almost all women love shopping. Maybe you are that type of a woman who is not that pickle minded and you have no patience in shopping for long hours. Shopping is one of my ways in pampering for myself. It lessen the stress that I'm feeling. What I also love in shopping, I get to buy things for other people too.
