So, I'm kinda new to this interest group. I start my fast for my blood work in 20 mins. I have to go in in 8 hours and get the blood drawn. Last time I went, my uric acid level popped at 11. That's on a scale that said normal was 2.4-6.4 Lucky me.. I'm an over-achiever. LOL Anyways, I thought I'd share something that I didn't know, and maybe some of you don't either. My doctor said that there's two kinds of people with gout. Those who produce WAY too much uric acid. Those who don't get rid of enough uric acid. Basically, either your body's uric acid production is stuck on high, or your kidneys and stuff aren't filtering enough out of your system. Either way, the UC builds up in your blood and... POP... gout attack. Anyways, she said that the treatment is different depending on which category I fall into... One pill for one, another for the other. (*cue the Jefferson Airplane:White Rabbit music*) So, this is good news to me, and the first I'd heard of it. Hopefully it will help someone else!

Interesting. That's the first time I heard that too. So which one was your situation? Is your uric acid level lower now?
