It really depends, cottonm.
If I go to sleep in the normal "sleep time", I'd rather be in silence. In these times, silence is the best thing.
But, if I need to sleep a little before than that, a calm music may be a very good alternative. Classical or then a romantic pop music can be a good choice.
Finally, better than ANYTHING, for me the rain' noises is the best sound EVER to be heard when you want to sleep.. It makes me so calm, cause it's so relaxing.. =)

hahhahah, that's a very good business idea too ^_^ and luckily Malaysia rains a lot...and, hmmmmmmm, u sure hav a 'picture' of a good sleep huh? :P
for me, rain sounds + cold weather + a warm quilt + a big comfy bed + a nice pillow + a dim light + a guy to hug = 100% perfect condition for bedtime :p

Such a good idea you just had!
Maybe you could record a CD like that and start selling to myLotters! I'd be one of those who'd SURELY buy it. xD
Actually, rain sound + cold weather + being hugged by a girl while laid down = perfect night of sleeping. =3

When I was a teenager, I liked to turn on music when I was sleeping. It didn't matter whether I could listen to it or not. I just wanted to take advantage of the time to listen to the music. I don't listen to music when I am sleeping today because I am married and I am afraid it will bother my husband.
I love China

I've been falling asleep lately with my iPOD, I thought I would do the same as you but I found myself falling asleep anyway. Just make a playlist that's an hour or 30 minutes long so you won't stay up all night listening to music. Give it a try and you'll be hooked too.

Its kind of impossible to turn anything on or do anything else while your sleeping. I have however gone to bed with the music playing. TV too. Not intentional about the tv. Both my tv and sterio have timers that shut them off. I use that mostly on the tv but the sterio i dont worry about much.

I usually sleep with the music on. It seems like therapeutic with me when there is music while I sleep. Soft music of course. I don't like heavy beats music it made me feel sick and dizzy if I hear hard beat music. Yes very relaxing when there is music around. I like to have music while I am working. It is very relaxing. Good luck.

I personally don't, but this is also because I don't like any electronic equipment being on when I'm asleep. So I never actually tried it before.
Sometimes my boyfriend stays up later then I but when the sound of his PC is on or he is listening to his music I can't sleep. Perhaps if it was a cd with calming sounds or classical music, that really suits me.
However, I have seen it can do wonders for jumpy toddlers and babies when you put on a cd with ocean sounds, forest sounds or classical music when they need to go to sleep. We do this in the child daycare where I work and the children get at ease much faster and there is less need of correcting children or taking them out of bed again because they can't sleep. The whole bedroom was zen and the children slept longer and more intense; they were better rested.

I'm glad I could be of help .
It has helped with tons of small children so it might just do the trick this time as well, please let me know how it goes!
There are also special classical cd's for babies with light music.

I do at times. Especially if I have a really hard time sleeping. I have special "sleep mode" playlist in my Ipod so I can listen to it whenever sleep forgets to sprinkle dust on me. It's pretty effective since the songs I choose are more on the instrumental side. So there's no way that I'd pay attention to lyrics.

I will not. I will be sleeping then, so unless I sleepwalk, turn on the computer, and find the player, and turn on the speakers, I will not be able to. But if I am awake, and I want to have some music until I sleep, I will not do that either. I prefer to have music while I go for a walk, but if I want to sleep, I want either near complete silence or looking at something very boring.
I can't turn music on while sleeping either. I mean it is impossible.

If I turn on music, it will be very hard for me to sleep anyway!
However, I have turned the radion on while sleeping.
U know what? I find that some broadcasts are so boring that I feel sleepy to listen to it. Thus, it would be a good lullaby for me.

I dont coz after I wake up my ear rings..hehe
I dont hear them in my dreams hehe I hope that theres a sleeping option in my mp4 player...
but seriously we must abuse our ears especially using headphones or earphones because even a small decibel can ruin our eardrums and can lead to serious problems so while listening to our music we must let our ears take a rest for about 10-15 mins and not as long as 2 hours...

NO WAY, cotton! I will never get to sleep if I do. Just had a fight with my neighbor who was playing with his dog at midnight. The dog was barking and the neighbor was shouting and I was not able to sleep a wink. I am a light sleeper. So I went and had a good fight, getting them both to shut up. I love music, but not when I am trying to sleep. I use it to keep me awake. LOL
Cheers and happy mylotting

I like to start out listening to music and it finally puts me to sleep. However, the very thing which puts me to sleep eventually wakes me up. That's when I turn it off. I know, I'm a little strange. What really puts me to sleep is a football or baseball game (especially baseball). It's the white noise of the crowd that does it.

Ummmm....Cotton? How am I going to turn on the radio while I'm sleeping? After all, I am asleep.
Anyway, I have a cd that I play to help me fall asleep. It has light music with harp and a little flute, a few birds singing, some waves. I really does help me.

Hi! I would love to turn on the music while sleeping for the night but I don't want to pay extra for extra electricity charge. But when I get some afternoon naps, I usually turn on the music. I turn the radio and switch to a Jazz station. It's really a cool type of music and soothing to the ears. It feels good to fall asleep while listening to Jazz. What's better is when I wake up and hearing Jazz still playing. It gives a really energizing and soothing feeling when I wake up after sleeping with music. Even though I'm sleeping, I think I am unconsciously listening to the music. It even feels a lot better than a good night's sleep.
