Well, most have similar themes, situations and outcomes, but since there is pattern to telenovelas (that looks a lot like a uterus when drawn, lol, but that's useless information), it can't really be helped. THESE are the types of stories that appeal to the masses and the masses, being the target audience, is a very strong factor to consider.
They may seem like the same stories to you, and that might make them look lousy to you, but that's because you're looking for realism (if I go by your second sentence) and you have enough knowledge regarding story-writing/cliches to be able to spot them.
People don't watch telenovelas for their riveting realism, nor do they want a realistic ending. They want entertainment in small increments, most likely with a boatload of angst. Their real lives already suck, do they really want to watch a documentary account of the ugliness of their lives? They want to live vicariously through the main protagonist and share said protags tears and victories. It's not that they're making their audience stupid/er, that's just not the side of the brain they're made for.

It's true that these telenovelas might make it appear that the Filipino audiences are "bobo"nbut at the same time, the networks know that these telenovelas appeal to a certain class of audience and it is for the entertainment of this audiernce that they show telenovelas. That enterttainment and hatever appeals to an audience that's what yhey feed the public. The only thing you can do i s not watch them and change the channel to the better stories.

Well you have good points in that observation, many telenovelas do really have the same plot most of the time. Like a woman looking for her true parents or a woman looking for her lost child. Or most of the time a poor woman being opressed and maltreated then will later become rich and will take her change to revenge. Same old story and you will see home people still partronize and enjoy. They don't really mind actually. Well, I am not. I don't subscribe to senseless telenovelas who will give me boring plots, all crying or unbelievable situations. I am not really a TV addict. If ever I would watch. I would do just 30 minutes at the most and not every day. I seldom watch TV because I prefer to do other fruitful things in the house.

Definitely most telenovelas today are nakakabobo! When you watch a telenovela, you can almost guess what will happen next. Me, I often get irritated when the characters are so stupid about their situations, they are like so clueless ! I often say it's because the director or the writer wants to prolong the series that all the imaginable twist and turns have to be integrated into the story that it seems to be unreal and so unbelievable.
I still watch the telenovelas. They can still be interesting because of the actors/actresses in the series. And when it gets dull, I can always turn off the tv or watch dvd instead.

Truly. I wish there's a local show about the life a teacher - all the lessons, aspirations. The life of engineering students - the project experiences, the hassles and the drama. The life of Christians - the ministries, the sufferings, the persecutions, the joy. The life of CAT high school officers. The life of Filipino doctors and nurses and the students. The life of mothers.
I wish there is a show about a person who really loves pets. Etc. There are so many other topics. But the show airing today are just so "mababaw" and influences the audience to be the same.
If there are more educational shows on television like the ones i mentioned, children could have thought of what they want to be or the profession they want to take in the future.
I just wish some people would take the steps to be DIFFERENT. And i wish for not just 'different' shows but educational, wholesome and ethical ones.

You're right! its a waste of money and electricity. Pinoy telenovelas has nothing compared to Koreans and Mexicans the reason why they are more popular. Pinoy scriptwriter makes their audience dumb as in twisting the stories like looking for a lost diary which is the key of the story then found it but the pages are missing. Oh my! when will those writers learned to write credible stories.

Hi there dong!
The target audience of the various networks that come up with these telenovelas are the masses. That is why they always come up with stories that would appeal to the masses. The typical rags-to-riches thing appeal most particularly to the masses as they would like to be in the same situation. It is also very common for telenovelas shown here in our country to have that kind of story where the main character always prevail over the villain or the like.
I am very thankful that we have cable TV. That means that I need not worry about watching these telenovelas.

Are you ranting or wining?
Just kidding my friend. Yes, I am aware of that
too. Telenovelas had the same plot only with
different actors and actresses. But housewives
do not mind though they are enjoying watching it.
I'm not fond of tv. Most of my time spent on the
internet.
