Do You Think Women Should Hide Their Bellies While Pregnant Or Not?

I have a question for you all out there. Do you think that women should hide their preganant bellies from eveyone during the preganancy or bare it all if they choose to? I saw this picture today of Tori Spelling during her second pregnancy in a bikini while she was 8 months pregnant with her second child. I think the photo is in good taste. People were complaining and saying how ugly a pregnant stomach is, etc. and that she should keep it covered. I personally think it is more comfortable to wear a bikini than to wear a one piece while pregnant. You don't have to buy a special suit, and it is is non-constricting to the growing belly. I think the pregnant body is beautiful - you are creating a new life. What could be more beautiful than that? It is not to look sexy in a bikini it is just to have swimwear to go to the beach or the swimming pool. It is not the 1950's anymore. I think people should lighten up. What do you think? Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I would not personally feel comfortable doing this. However, I am not comfortable bareing my belly even though I'm not pregnant! But, if the person feels ok with it, then why not? Being pregnant is a beautiful thing. I can honestly say I've never seen an ugly pregnant belly even if it has a few stretch marks. So, this would be a decision based on what the pregnant mom was comfortable with in my opinion.

I think it would depend on how they look baring it all. Some women just wouldn't look too good with their stomachs out, some would. The lady in the picture looks okay

I totally agree with you, pregnancy should not be the reason not to bare it, it should also be how you look. Just like with anything you wear on anyone, pregnant or not.

I had a two piece maternity swimsuit, and I liked it. I understand the point of not having something tight across the belly. I personally would not want to see me pregnant and in a bikini, or even see me now, in a bikini, I am just as big as when I was pregnant, but flabby. However, I do not need to impose my ideas on others. I have more understanding for the swimsuit than for bare midriff tops and low slung pants. Personally, I enjoyed dresses. Some of them were sundresses with little straps, but that was thirty years ago.

I agree with you. I don't see anything wrong with wearing a bikini to the beach or pool when you are pregnant. I had a one piece when I was pregnant but my figure was not perfect before any of my four pregnancies. But if I looked as good as Tori Spelling then I would have. I also loved sundresses and shorts and tank tops or short sleeve tee shirts. I was in Florida for 2 of my pregnancies, so there is no way I was going to wear more than that!

I've always thought pregnancy was pretty damnn sexy. I love a baby belly and I can't unerstand why it is frowned upon. When is a woman more feminine than when she is pregnant? Maybe it sounds sexist to some, but I don't think so. I say, SHOW THAT BELLY PROUDLY!

I am glad you feel that way. Many men are grossed out by preggo bellies. I say if it looks ok do it. I really don't think they look sexy, but more beautiful.

I think that if the mother feels good in it, then it doesn't matter. I think pregnant bellies are beautiful, and the picture is in good taste, and isn't anything that people should be making a big deal out of it. I think some people just don't have anything better to do then to nit pick lol. But i agree that the mothers comfort is the most important.

I think its ok to show it. The only time i would think it would be inappropriate is say going to your other child's day care or something, pregnant or not, dont wear a bikini..lol But overall i do think its ok to bare your belly, because pregnancy is one of the most natural things for a woman to do, i see nothing wrong with it.

You're exactly right. But then again, who would wear a bikini to their child's daycare or whatever? I mean if you are not at the beach or at the pool why would you be in a bikini anyways? Right?

really depends on the person and what they feel comfortable with. Now me I wouldnt I never liked being PG and wore all the flowing tops I could. Dont think I went swimming but I did go horseback riding and hikeing . But then I am from the 50s lol

I think it should depend on what you want to do. I never poked mine in people's faces, but I didn't try to hide it either. I have always been proud in all of my pregnancies.

The pregnant belly is beautiful, imo. And while most people don't all agree that motherhood is beautiful, I think only very vain and shallow (or else SUPER old fashioned) people would complain about a pregnant lady going to be the beach...I mean w.t.h. is she gonna wear? Fussy people. *pokes them*

I think if you are at the beach or a pool then it is fine to dress like Tori Spelling did. I don't look at it as sexy at all or ugly or beautiful or whatever. I just see it as a functional piece of clothing that a pregnant woman is wearing for the function she is doing. Thanks for your comment and have a nice day!!!

I think you should show it. Its the most beautiful things in the world. I didn't have a pretty belly during pregnancy and wanted to hide it. My belly button would stick out and I had a ton of stretch marks. If I did have a cute belly I would of showed it. And even though I didn't like how my belly looked I still took pictures. I just put my hand on my belly button and I am so happy I took those pictures b/c I can always go back and look at those. I am amazed how big your belly can stretch and most of the time go back to where it was before.

I took pictures of my pregnant belly too. Unfortunately I got TONS of stretch marks too! But they are marks left behind for a good reason, I have 4 children to show for it. It sucks when we get stretch marks, but it is worth it when we look at our children.

Pregnancy is a beautiful stage in a woman's life, why should she hide her belly? It is a personal choice for sure but I don't see anything wrong with showing a pregnant belly. Bikini, why not? If this is more comfortable, then go with it. Artists have long since regarded the beauty of pregnancy and our society needs to adopt the same reverence. I will say again that pregnancy is beautiful.

Pregnancy is beautiful! I agree, if she wants to expose it - go ahead. I mean under the right circumstances. You know, don't wear a bikini to the grocery store! But hey, that goes for anyone! Pregnant or not!

Why hide it? A pregnant belly is one of the most beautiful sights, in my opinion. It's a miracle in progress, and something to celebrate! Not something to be ashamed of!

I always tell my niece put some clothes on. Yes it is a growing lfe in there. But what if the person was really fat and PG then what? ouch the eye's. So only skinny pg woman or all can? lol ok I need sleep. can you tell. can't think or type. But if they look good then yes they can if not please put more on. Have a Great day

I think as long as it looks good go for it. I don't think you should if you look awful though. But like the picture, Tori Spelling has a nice figure and you can tell she does, she's just pregnant. I think she looks great!

hi well if the person who is pregnant doesnt mind showing her belly then i guess it should not matter to other people since they do not care themselves. some people dont like the way they look when they are pregnant. but obviously Tori Spelling doesnt mind.

I do not think that pregnant women should necessarily hide their bellies!! I for one am 6 and a half months pregnant. And I dont hide my belly with huge baggy shirts. If God intended on no one seeing your belly while you were pregnant he would have changed our bodies so that it didnt look that way. And personally I believe that pregnant bellys are cute. And its natural. Way to Go Tori Spelling for baring it all in a two piece bikini!!! I will do the same thing. No reason to hide a beautiful creation!

I don't think that women should hide their bellies. Being pregnant is a beautiful thing. I have pregnant friends who look more beautiful than the time they weren't. I don't see a problem if they wear bikinis or such. As long as everything is in good taste I don't see anything wrong with it. There are a lot of people who are not pregnant but seem to lack in good taste when it comes to choosing clothes. (I guess you get my drift right? )

There are some women who aren't pregnant that I think should hide their bellies. Being pregnant and being fat are two different things. One I never want to see uncovered.

I agree, if you are overweight that is not attractive looking and you should try to keep that covered if you can, but pregnant women I think can expose it if they want to.

I say if the woman is comfortable with it she should wear a bikini. A pregnant belly is beautiful. I was at a water park yesterday and saw many pregnant women in bikini's and I thought it was awesome. I was never that comfortable with my body but many women are so good for them. There is even a radio station here that has a bikini contest for pregnant women they have to be so far along just to enter. I think that is awesome. What a celebration of the ultimate in femininity.

I totally agree... i think being prego is one of the most wonderful miracles we as women get to do... and it makes me sad that society is trying to censor that mircale. I say if she is comfy then let her do whatever she wants... we are not in the old days anymore...
