My father's battle with cancer

My father has lung cancer and he is at the point where he has to have hospice care. The doctor's have suggested that I start thinking about making arrangements and plans in case of my father's death. I have no idea where to start and it hurts just thinking about it. Has anyone else been through this. Any advice would be greately appreciated.
