Do any of you know about Reiki? It is being used more and more around here, most of the physical therapy places offer it. Many of the hospitals are also allowing this alternative treatment to be offered. If you find yourself in the position of needing healing I feel you can ask for this, not instead of the usual treatments but along with those threatments. It's a totally natural energy and willl not harm you in any way, if nothing else it will calm you and help you relax. This allows the medical treatments to work more effectly because they are not fighting the bodie's stress along with the illness. If anyone is interested look on the internet, as usual look out for the scams, I would be happy to discuss this with anyone interested.

ReiKi is a Japanese word meaning Universal Energy. It basically uses the energy prevailing in the universe to cure illnesses and establish a healthy living. It is indeed very effective for those who practise it with regularity and concentration. You can do it on yourself and on others nearby or far away. A qualified teacher initiates you into ReiKi. Without this formal initiation, ReiKi is considered ineffective.

My understanding is a little different. I was taught that the energy is in all and that anyone only has to turn their attention to it. I understand that attunement adds some power. The originator of this pratice attuned himself. I really feel that all the secret signs are secret only to help people make money, the signs have no power except to help you focus. I do use these for that purpose. but I do not agree to the unblieveable high price some charge for this knowledge. I agree you need to pay for your instructor's time and what I paid for mine was worth every cent. But $500.00 to 1,000.00 dollare is way to much. Ok I'll get off my chair, want to be friends?

This is actually a very old healing practice - so it would be difficult to call it a "fad." I think it is very interesting how our way of thinking is starting to change in this country. Alternative healing methods are starting to be seen in previously "strictly" western medicine locations. Who knows how things would change if a black man became president. Would it open us up to looking at other things semmingly unrelated? We live in interesting times. But, I think that sentence is part of a curse - like - May you live in interesting times. Could be good, could be bad.

I'm not sure I totally believe in it. My SIL is into all this alternative medicine stuff and tries one thing after another for whatever she things ails her, and now also her child. Reiki was one of the things. She swore up and down that it helped until the next fad healing method came along, lol. From what she described is being done, I can see it as relaxing and maybe even calming, probably a great stress reliever. But anything else?
