I always try and use mustard oil for most of my cooking as it is low in cholesterol. I've also heard that olive oil is good but my son is allergic to it.

Cooking oil is most important one to keep control on body. I made a study on this and if required i can send you a PPT file separately. Mustard oil is good but it only protects the heart and but it is not effective in lowering the cholestrol,So i think you can use the Canola oil which is very good in protecting the heart as well as lowering the cholestrol... In ranking ....Canola,Kusuma and Sunflower oil are the best and Vanaspathi,Desighee and Coconut oil are the worst for the body. Mustard oil is in the 9th place of the chart.

Mustard oil does not have a mustard taste but has a very strong aroma.

I use very little oil. I often try to just use a little water to cook with and in baking I use fruit purees to replace almost all the fat. When I do use oil it's usually olive oil or a canola/olive oil blend.

When I cook on the stovetop I just put a little water in the pan to keep things from sticking. When baking, I add applesauce or other pureed fruit in the same amount of whatever oil or margarine the recipe calls for.

Using very little oil is a very good thing you are doing. I do that too. But how do you use water and not oil in baking. Do let me know.

well we use the usual vegetable oil.. sometimes we use coconut oil too.. we find vegetable oil healthy and olive oil is quite expensive. so we stick to using vegetable oils.

yes, coconut oil is very unhealthy and fattening. it's high in cholesterol too. we don't use it that much. we use vegetable oil often, but when we run out of vegetable oil, we use coconut oil because we have them stored in the kitchen, it's made by my grand parents who made them in their farm!

I usually use olive oil or enova. I like enova because it says on the bottle that it has less oil stored as fat. Olive oil is good for you also. It has a beneficial effect on your cholesterol. Just ask Rachel Ray. I dont think she uses anthing other thatn EVOO. I only use other oils if a recipie calls for it speciifically.

Hi friend,I use gingely oil, sunflower oil and rice bran oil. These oils are used in our country much. All these oils are low in cholesterol.Doctors here ask us to change oils each time and not to stick on to one and only oil, bcoz all the oils have some drawbacks and advantages.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.
