Are you a planner?

Do you actually plan your life? Like you set these goals and actually plan it, writing it down and such or do you just let things happen as they come? I can honestly say that I've tried being both, but the latter one seems to be outweighing the planner in me...how about you?

I guess that planning has its advantages definitely--wow..they must be in order? As for me, I'm giddy already if I get to check an item off my list---honestly, it sure would be nice if I brought out the planner in me more, I could definitely see how it can work for me, but as I said sometimes I really find it hard to follow up with my plans--any tips?? thanks!

I can't say that I am too much of a planner unless I have something scheduled to do out of the ordinary. I've been a planner of my days before but I usually don't stick with it for very long at a time. Easier just to go with the flow!!!!

hi terri, it sure is nice to know that I'm not alone in not being able to plan my life throughout ...yup, I really have to agree with you that going with the flow is sometimes easier, hehe as long as I can ride that flow, that is! Enjoy your day now! thanks!

Hi Raenie, I used to set a lot of goals in my younger years and achieved many of them along the way but these days i tend to have tentative plans but they are not set in stone so go with the flow more than set definite goals. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie thanks for replying--good for you that at least you achieved many of your set goals before--bravo to you! I have yet to accomplish most of what I have in mind & yes, I can also see how it is also advantageous to just go with the flow sometimes, after all, it is sometimes in the unexpected that we learn our life lesson! Enjoy your day!

I never plan anything very further in for the future all i plan is how m gonna go college tomorrow with what clothes just simple planning which may not be even regarded as planning. Its just fixing a schedule.Planning is something that you are scheduling point to point things like you knew whats gonna happen next. Planning seldom fails and i dont wanna be the one who would say MAN PROPOSES GOD DISPOSES

I do agree that at least having a general idea or direction in life is good, at least one has an inkling and goals to reach in life...thanks for the reply

I try not to plan absolutely everything...when things become routine, that's when they get boring. I like to let some things happen as they come. But my little lists along the way gradually help that along too. I've got my wish list...things I hope to achieve with our home, like getting new furniture, new front door, new deck, ect. And then I've got my goal list...things I hope to achieve in life itself. Have a happy, healthy, loving family. Raise my son to be the best man that he can. Teach him that he's capable of anything as long as he sets it in motion. I have my daily/weekly chore list - it helps me keep on target on what needs to be done. Lastly would be my list of aspirations - Become a published author, see the world, do something great for my community, find a loving church home for my family, become more organized..not "neat freak" but just tidy. It sounds like I've got lists growing out of my ears! It's really not that bad. I think they're helpful in reminding us what's important and help to guide you a little if you get off track. Life is always throwing funny little twists and turns at you. Sometimes you need all the help you can get.

Wow! I think you may have something really helpful going on here metalhalo--I just might get a tip or two, if that's all right! I definitely agree with you on all accounts that having these lists definitely can come in handy to act as some sort of guide for you, cool! I do hope that I could come up with something like that too (hehe and actually accomplish most of what's on my list!..thanks!

Hmm, having a list of things to do before I die, sounds pretty cool, I think I tried to do this list before, ended up being buried in one of my notebooks--uh-oh! I guess I'd have to make a new one & actually stick to doing at least some of it! Anyhow, good for you hinkerbell, that at a young age, you at least have a set of goals already--I don't think I was that focused when I was your age!

Yes, I'm a planner. Being as I am disabled I have to be. You can't book a paratransit ride with any less than 24 hours notice. So if I want to have a life I have to plan and since I do want to have a life, I do. I wonder what it would be like to be able to just go do something whenever you felt like it. In order to experience that I'll need to move to somewhere on a better bus route.

I think that's a good way of doing it, at least you have a general idea of what to do and also leave allowances for the unexpected...as for me, I'm more of a come-what-way type, but sometimes it can get pretty scattered for me, that it's hard to focus! major uh-oh for me!

I know that everything we wish for is eventually comming to our lives. But somehow we are so lazy that we even can't sit down and write down all our wishes and plans. I think if we did so we would be much happier and much more sucessful. I must confes that I do not often plan my life and write down my goals, although I think it is very useful and need to be done as soon as possible.

What you've written here is so tru! How I wish that I could bring out the planner in me, however the non-planner in me always seems to be winning--it can be frustrating at times I admit and indeed, life for me would be easier if I were good at planning AND actually doing it! thanks for replying

I have to agree that scheduling things for the future is good, at least you more or less have a timeline on when to do things, thanks
