what would it be and why? i asked this because i heard a person speak french on the tv just seconds ago, and how i SO LOVE their manner of speaking! so if i can have the knowledge to speak a language presto, it would definitely be french. for me, it is the most romantic language of all (at least in my opinion), and being a chronically romantic person, i'd sure go for FRENCH.
how about you? what would be your choice? and why did you pick that language? :)

Is "woman" a language?? If it is and I could have this programmed into my mind then not only would I be set; but base understandings that have eluded me for many, many years may actually start to make sense! lol. Seeing as I am in Egypt at the moment I would probably have to say Arabic as it would make my life much easier for now!

but Arabic is a..uhh..how do you put this..its not something that you say in a sing song manner. it's..oh this is hard. oh! i know. arabic language, when spoken, is like their always angry. like always gruff. hehehe. i don't like to always appear angry. hee hee.

Actually it all depends on where the Arabic is spoken! Here in Egypt for example, yes it can have a very "rough" and throaty type of sound when spoken. Yet in countries such as Saudi Arabia the Arabic spoken is far softer and actually sounds quite poetic! The way the dialect is spoken does vary from country to country.

Yes french is indeed a beautiful language but i would choose Chinese.China is fast becoming a clountry to contend with and in the near future it could play a very important role in the world not only economically but in other aspects and i would like to be in a position to take advantage of this by being able to speak Chinese.

if there was one language that i could have programmed in my brain would have to be spanish and i say that because so many jobs today are looking for people today who speak 2 languages an at least were i live they want someone who speaks english as well as spanish.

yeah? some jobs here look for Spanish speakers too. but you know, having a history where we were colonized by spaniards for a long time and didn't leave a "good" record, i somehow dislike the spanish language. i know. it was waaaayy long ago, but still :p

When I didn't open the detail of your discussion, French came in my mind and what a pretty co-incidence. I love french because it seems very sweet language to me and when I hear people speak it, I just keep on listening to them without understanding. I would definitely go for french if one language can be programmed into my brain right now. Presently, I know english, urdu and punjabi. The last two are languages spoken here in Pakistan.

Well.. I'd say Japanese for me. ^_^ Just cuz I like watching anime and reading manga. But I also like French, so that would be second. Then for the third place, I can't decide between German and Russian. Ahaha. I want to learn a lot of languages! It really would be convenient if a language could be programmed into our brains~ ^_^

what! you cheat! i said ONE only! LMAO! yeah, you should learn japanese if you like watching anime. watching and not having a clue on what the characters say is really frustrating. hee hee. even with subtitles, i find it hard to concentrate what's going on if i have to read subtitles all the while. i guess i can't multitask (watching while reading) very well. hehehe.

French is one of the sweetest languages and I too have learnt a little of it in school. Our only problem is that our pronunciation is a little different from them and it tickles them no end. I try and talk in French with my boss who is a Palestenian and he feels our way of speaking French very funny, but all the same, its a wonderful language.

hmm, if language can be programmed in my brain, I would definitely choose, Japanese and French. I am quite fascinated with nihonggo since I was in high school, really wish I could master and quite fluent with it. I also like French, because there's something in the language that quite romantic and elegant. It was really interesting to learn it.

For me it would be the russian language because in my country there are a lot of new immigrants from russia that came in the 90's of the 20's century, more than million, and are still coming. but I want to learn every language there is. I know hebrew, english, more or less spanish, but only few words in french and it's also a language I would like to know well 'cause it's a lovely languge and also 'cause I have friend who came form maroco to israel (my country) when he was 13, and the frenchmans used to rull in maroco for a while so the culture and the language assimilated in maroco.. I am crazy about languages but I don't do enough to learn more of them. take even one hour a day to learn the language you want and you will see by the power of inertia you will quick learn the language..happy mylotting.

Well since I know French and Spanish already I think I'll go with either Chinese or Japanese, so that it wouldn't be a problem if I watch anime or Kung Fu movies. Well French is a nice language and it does sound romantic

it must be spanish,i think. Because Spanish is easy to learn, and its grammar isn't so hard.
For another reason, I love Spain, it's a historical country, and it's shut in a mysterious atmosphere, it really attracts me a lot.
And according to a survey,Spanish is the second most international language, only right hipo-English. So with regard to long views, learning Spanish is definitely good. It's good for looking for a job. And most people around me just learn Spanish.
