I love to learn new language, it sounds very challenging to me. Im still doing self study of korean language now, next would be japanesse then chinese .I like watching korean, japanesse and chinese films with english subtitles ofcourse. I find it very interesting being able to speak and understand what they are saying without reading the translation.

yeah I think everyone become interested in China after that, don't you remember that before the Olympics China reputations goes down or they tried ruining it with the lead issue and all. but yes I want to learn Mandarin, I look like Chinese and I want to learn their language so I could pretend I am. he he. I am naughty I know, because people would always ask me if I am Korean or Chinese but I am pure Filipino and so sometimes I think to put them off, I speak Chinese for them to stop, but I don't know how, my kids and I sometimes make fun and do Chinese sounding talk, my second born looks and talks like Chinese. but I also want to learn French! it would be the next IT thing because remember Olympics will be in London next.

Hmm..personally, I'm a Singaporean Chinese. And with Singapore's emphasis on bilingualism, our education always places emphasis on English as well as our mother tongue(s) be it Chinese, Tamil, Malay etc. So yes, I'm pretty fluent with both even though my primary mode of communication still remains in English. I would really really love to learn other languages like Japanese (picked up a bit from Jdramas and animes but would very much like to learn it formally), French, Spanish and so on one day.

I am interested in learning as much languages as I can. I studied French, Spanish, German and Japanese back in college and now I'm planning to self study Italian or Portuguese. I would love to learn Chinese too but I think it would be impossible on my part. I just hope there would be a way that I could learn it.

Philippines has Chinese Schools. These Chinese Schools, teach Chinese subjects for 2 hours everyday. The rest are all English subjects.
Chinese school are opened from kindergarten pupils up to high school students only.
Some Colleges or Universities offers, Chinese subjects too. But they are not Chinese school.

Hi! I'm interested in learning Chinese, both Mandarin and Cantonese. In 2002, I was so hooked to a Chinese singer named Leon Lai. I really love his songs. I bought some books but never really found one that thoroughly explains how to speak the language. I like Japanese too because it is easier. I've learned some basics though. I would love to learn Spanish, French, and German too in the far future. I also think I'll study Chinese in the far future because there are so many characters and it's hard to memorize them all. Hopefully someday, I'll learn all of these languages

As a Chinese, i am gald that you love Chinese language. However, to be honest, Chinese language is one of the most difficult language in the world, especially for western people. Because it has four tones, which is a big obstacle to new learners.
Compared with Chinese language, Japanese language is easier to master.
If you have any questions about Chinese language, i am glad to help you, lol.

I like the chinese and the japanese language but I guess it would take very long for me to learn, especially writing, so that's why I never actually would take action in trying to learn it.
I have had german and french in high school, and I speak English quite well.
If I were to learn a language better I would love to learn German because I like the language a lot and my grandpa was German, so it's also a bit of a culture thing.

Before going for chinese, I think I'd try japanese first.. I always wanted to understand what's being said in those animes and tokusatsus..
If you want a difficult language, try Portuguese.. I can't say it's difficult, 'cause it's my mother-language.. But who tries to learn it always says it's hard!
And you do such good discussions.. I really like to read'em all.. When you want to, try checking my discussions (I hope "soon".. =/)!

hhaha, i understand a bit japanese, but my sis is the expert ^_^
I nvr tot Portuguese will b a difficult langguange to learn, coz most ppl said chinese is the hardest, hhhahah, coz too many words(all the charcters look like a drawing which is very fasinating), & complicated grammar so on ^_^
btw, your discussion also quite cool ^_^
