what habit you have when first walk in a house?

I think most people have some kind of habit when first walk into the house, even a friends house, something you do without thinking.. Where i used to live i had a open fire, and my friends husband at this habit of standing near it and just had to poke it with the fire poker even though it did not need poking My ex boyfriend, would come in back kitchen door and instantly open the fridge, look for a minute then close it, often saying what i do that for, as didn't want anything. Some people have a habit of straightening pictures if see them little wonky, even in someone else's house.. What habit you have or what is the first thing you do when walk in the house?

turn the lights on, then kick my shoes off... i dont have anyy weird habit.

My habit is I take my shoes off. If I am coming home from work, I find my kids and hug them first. But the funny thing is is that I run around inside with shoes on, but I have to take them off when I get in the door.

take them off neatly or kick them off and dash for toilet like many no habits of opening food cupboards or fridge? hehehhehe thanks for sharing

Habit that I do when I first walk in my house is walking to my bedroom, put off my bag, turning my PC on, change cloth, put my self on bed for a couple of second, then getting some water from the kitchen.. Now that you mention this discussion, I never realize that I have been doing this for quite a long time :))

The first thing I do is go to my bedroom and take off my shoes, then my bra, head to the bathroom, then go in the kitchen and start fixing supper. While fixing supper, I'm always straightening things out in the kitchen. When I get done with that, I sit down at the table and read the paper.

hahahha.. you like freedom of shoes and bra.. oh yes, nice to be home, just let it all hang out and yea us women do much multi tasking.. i get on with the ironing while doing dinner thanks for sharing

If we have been gone away from home, the first thing I do when entering my house is to turn off the alarm. Otherwise, I usually run to the bathroom. Hey, I run to the bathroom after turning off the alarm, too. Just second nature for me.

yea i do that, sling my keys down and run to the toilet, it is even worse if come home with people and we are fighting to get to the toilet first thanks for sharing

That is funny, Mandy. We can have several of the grandkids in our car. When we get nearly home,everyone is claiming a bathroom first! The one needing to go the worse gets the one in the laundry room. The others have to go running through the house. It can be very hilarious around here if there is more than three needing to go quickly.

When I first walk in a house, I initially give a quick glance around the room. I often notice walls, decorations, furnitures and stuffs. I appreciate looking at interiors... and say "wow! cool place!" :-D

Hahahha. well, yeah. But there are other ways to say. I don't know, but i seem to find some positive words to say quickly. "Wow! Nice place" [doesn't matter if it's messed up or not, the idea was that he/she has an own place] Some people with initially react and respond to me "It's a mess." Then i go, "at least you've got your own place to keep and your own privacy." ahahahha I am deprived from the luxury of having my own private place since I was a kid.

i see what you are saying.. many of us take it for granted, having private place... i had this since i was 17, well went from bedsit of 1 small room but at least i had privacy from family lol, then to flat and finally house..

what habit you have when first walk in a house ? i go to the bathroom and wash my feet and face, every where i go, but at my home after i wash my feet and my face i change clothes and kiss my wife.

my habit be to put the kettle on and hug my cat anyway thats real sweet if habit to kiss the wife, i never had that.. nice habit to do when walk in thanks for sharing

I do not really have some rituals when I walk inside the house but I have friend who insist on taking off his shoes and socks everytime he enters a house. I also have a friend who check out the CD collection of almost every house that she enters. I find it really wierd to go through other people's things like that and it kind of turn me off. Anyway, people do crazy things all the time.

I take off my shoes as soon as I walk into the house. After that I want a glass of cold water to drink. If nobody offers it I just look for the fridge and get the bottle out and have the water.

Into my house I'll turn on the monitor and check e-mail. I guess I kick off my shoes too, now in other peoples houses I won't sit down until I'm invited, but when I go to church I sit down, cause I've been invited.

Hi I take off my shoes and switch on lights if it is night.Donot like to bring dirt in the house as i have young kids.All of us remove our shoes and wear slippers.Our store room is the first thing in the house when we enter.

Think it better to remove shoes when enter house, kids or no kids its a good habit to have, for when go around other peoples houses, as its respect to remove our shoes in other peoples homes As for lights, hmmm sometimes i turn light on then wonder why i did that, as it be daytime thanks for sharing and take care

in summer,when i walk in my house,the first thing i do is put off the clothes i am wearing,and wear another one which is so cool for me,in winter,i put off my coat and drink a glass of hot water. if i go to my friends` house,the first thing i do is to seat down,because i am a guest for them,i have to keep impolite,and don`t do any more things.

if it is the first time,i will look around the room ,up and down,just like a thief.then give some comments,usually it is praise or surprise ,jsut to make atmosphere joyful.

mine will be to take out my shoes and put then in the shoe rack... after that, i always go straight to the kitchen to prepare dinner for me and my hubby... that's about it... take care and have a nice day...

The first thin I do when I come into my house is put my wallet on the tv stand. I think it might be my subconscience saying "Ok your home and you are not leaving." Even if I know I will be leaving soon I do this. lol.

If I am walking into my house, the first thing I do is take my hat off and put it on the chair inside the door. I then immediately look around to see if everything is how I left it. I've been burglarized a couple of times in the past and I guess I am wary of that happening again. If I am walking into someone elses house the first thing I do is look around to see where is a place for me to sit down

well if you been burgled then yes, i can understand that looking around to make sure everything is in order, will be first thing you do. i am sorry to hear that, ive been burgled but not the house, personally and car.. but my mum has in house.. thanks for sharing

In my own house I have to check the door is locked several times. If I'm in another persons house, I have to make sure that I don't have any dirt on my shoes before I step off the mat. In my house also I hate leaving lights on when there's nobody in the room, so I will make sure that they are all switched off unless there is someone in the room!
