Imagine if you would that NO weapons were invented. That is a world without knives, swords, guns, bullets, rifles, crossbow, handgrenades, bombs, nuclear bombs, WMDs (chemical warfare), torpedos etc Would there still be wars? Do you think people would or could settle differences in other ways? Or do you think that man would still resort to killing in other ways? Do you take the weapons away from the man to make a bloodless and peaceful society or is it's man's insatiable appetite for death, destruction and war with or without weapons? Do you think things would be any different if there were no weapons right from when man first set foot on this good earth? What is your view on man without weapons?

I think that, without any weapons at all, we wouldn't have survived as a species in the first place because the other animals who are faster, stronger and have sharp teeth and claws would have eaten us all up by now! I don't believe that weapons are the problem and, no, I don't think that man would settle their differences in a peaceful way if there were no weapons of any kind in the world. I think the strong would still prey on the weak, the fanatic would still seek to control and/or kill any who don't believe as he does, the power hungry would still hunger for power. Weapons do have a positive side you know...they help to keep people in check. Remember the Cold War...Russia and the U.S., armed with nuclear missles aimed at each other...and there never was a war between us. The atomic bomb ended World War II, saving more lives in the long run than it took. So, they have their place.

Thank you for pointing out the positive aspect of weapons, it's very sad isn't it but oh very very true. Humans are a very complex design aren't they, I think humans are incapable of living in peace.

I agree with you, I believe that too, but it will take a very long time and a lot of hard work before hatred and mistrust is replaced with understanding and tolerance.

That's good that there are no weapons in the world. But people can still say hurtful words to each other and I think it's also a kind of fight. I always wonder if a man is going to labor the baby and woman acts like a man. Perhaps this world will be much more peaceful:) I love China

Excellent point my friend, indeed words are weapons themselves too!

Would you consider using a rock as an invention? Rocks were probably the 1st external weapons. I am sure they would have been used when physical strength wasn't good enough. If there were no weapons then humans would still use their body as a weapon. Fists, feet, elbows, knees and head make great weapons. I think they were from the beginning of time.

Which proves than man is incapable of living in harmony and in peace.

Sounds great, wolfie, but your supposition has a fatal flaw. That flaw is man's ability to turn basically any object into a weapon. Sadly, if we could go back to the beginning when there were no weapons man's incredibly deceitful mind would eventually come up with a way to murder and maim his fellow man. Cain found a way to slay Abel, didn't he?

Aha, I like your way of thinking (as always!) Basically man is flawed through and through and because he has a mind of his own he has the freedom to think, superior beings we maybe but deeply flawed.

Hi wolfie, It is no doubt that things would be better without weapons because we wouldn't have the same ability to destroy and kill to the extent that we do today. There would still be war though because it appears to be human nature to want what the other person has. I guess people would kill with their bare hands if necessary. Every little fight is war on a small scale, and we have a long way to go yet before we will have conquered the tendency to fight. Blessings.

I don't think we'll ever see peace, certainly not in our lifetime, and maybe not in the world's lifetime, sad but true. Man is the culprit always was, always will be.

Good question! Now I am wondering if this could happen or not! I think it won't make any difference at all. People would still find a way to gain power. The bottom line is that man's ego will always push him to prove himself to be better than someone else and even though war would still exist in a different way we could at least hope that without weapons involved far less people would suffer.

Man is the aggressor and with or without weapons he'd still be hungry for war. Wouldn't it be great to watch a parallel world like ours without the weapons and to see how their world would differ from ours or whether it would be the same or worse even. It's a shame we cannot see another planet's civilization if one did exist so we could learn instead of trying to destroy what we don't understand.

These devices were invented because war already existed. From the very early days man learned he could do more damage with a rock or stick than with his hands & made the first weapons. Even if you took them all away we'd just find another way to kill.

That's true even the humble tree can be made into a bow and arrow, then there's the catapult as well. Anything can be classed as a weapon or a missile, technology just helped the crudeness along by far!

Of course Wolfie, Humans are animals in make-believe refineries. We are all animals beneath our skins and many of us are savage or will become when priority becomes survival always. If you step into the corporate, you already see a dog-eat-dog world under all the illusion. If we have no weapons whatsoever, we can jolly well use our fists again like our forefathers. Even if fists can be use, we can BITE. We may not have fangs like werewolves (do they have fangs?) but we can do some good biting nevertheless. Worst come to come, if we can't carry a physical battle, we will start using our tongue to lash the hell out of people and not forgetting our brains to wipe up another devious plot in preparation for World War N.

That would be a very interesting war. Since weapons are not present. It would be a war against physical strengths and attributes. But I don't think men won't think of creating weapons after all. We are very creative. Also, we want to protect our properties.

Hi wolfie! You can fight without weapons. Ever seen a couple of cats fighting? First they start with a few loud, long meows. They they show their claws. Now, even if men have no weapons, they have fists and nails. They can claw, they can give blows, they can kick. Oh yes, they can fight. It will be a one-to-one fight though. And in a way, you can create a bloodless and peaceful society by removing weapons because mass destruction will no longer be possible. Cheers and happy mylotting

In a perfect world.....oh yeah, we don't live in a perfect world. First off the very first weapons were made so that man could hunt and kill for food, clothing, etc. As man evolved so did the weapons, and so did the disagreements. Are you also going to take away tools, hammers? screwdrivers? Are you going to take away all poisons? What about tree limbs, and as one of your other responses said, rocks, stones. Oh and what about cooking utensils? cast iron skillets? forks? In other words, man would 'find' a weapon when they felt they needed one, when they felt threatened, hunting for food. Even if it were possible to take all this things away, man still has fists and feet. I don't think that it would necessarily have the outcome of a bloodless and peaceful world by taking away weapons.

I think that would be a great thing. Unfortunately, that would never happen. Back in the day, weapons were needed for means of killing their food, clothes and jewlery. The only way man was able to provide the necessities to his family was to kill an animal and the only way to kill an animal that is 10 times bigger then you, was to use a weapon. Unfortunately, the use of those weapons went from being a tool used for survival to a tool being used to dominate other humans. I think the world would be a much better place if everyone fought with words or fists rather then take the coward way out and use weapons. I dont even know what people are fighting over anyways. IT's like a huge game of no-mans-land. Why can't everyone just be happy with where they live and stop trying to take over other peoples countries. Let people practice what they practice, don't try changing them to be more like you. As long as they keep to themselves and we keep to ourselves then the world would be a better place. Why cant people see this? War is just stupid no matter which way you look at it. But it would be nice to live in a world with no weapons!

It's such a waste of human life, we weren't put on this good earth surely to kill each other for no reason at all? We are still pretty much primitive on that respect. Is it any wonder why we have never been visited by alien worlds? We'd probably shoot em first!!!

War without weapons is still deadly, imagined if all people know martial arts and many are shaolin kung-fu masters and blackbelters, there would be a war. Imagine those movies in the TV where people fighting with their bare hands- smashing, kicking destroying property. It would be a good idea also that there is no war and all be peaceful, but war is envitable because humans are intellegent to make their weapons

Without those killing weapons our world will be free from any nuclear distruction, bombs and etc. We can live safely and free from worries that anytime someone will stab, and shoot us. And that's very nice. what a wonderful world that we have then no killings. But im sure wars of words will be flooding. And human feast will be used for.

There would always be equipment to kill and make animals into the meat we eat so I think even if there weren't weapons per say, I think people would use them for weapon or household objects to hurt others. I mean we hear in the news of people using household objects like lamps or whatever to hurt others.

i think ever since men are created, they had invented their own weapons... like spears, bows and arrows... the purpose is not to hurt one another but to protect themselves against wild animals and hunting for food... and don't forget rocks... it can be used as a weapon too... and it comes naturally without having to be invented... so the problem is not really with the invention of the weapons... i think the biggest problem comes from the human's heart that is full of hatred, unsatisfaction, jealousy, greed, ego, etc... that's why war started... and in order to win the war, human have to think of a more sophisticated weapon to defeat their enemy... so i really think it is the other way round... WAR comes first before WEAPONS are invented... weapons are invented to fulfill human's ego to win the war... take care and have a nice day...

Good day... Even without weapons man can still kill each other by using their bare hands. It is in our instincts to hurt others when our own survival is at stake, like any organism that when threatened, we fight back. The presence of famine, calamities and unforeseen circumstances that also pushes us to that state of mind. Come to think of it since we need to kill animals for our food then it is not far off to kill our own to survive. Maybe it's in our inherent genetic make up.

I have to agree completely with the other responses to this discussion, but especially with Spalladino(hope I spelled that right). It may be a wonderful Utopian idea to eventually have a world in which there are no weapons, but unfortunately, as long as there are evil people in the world, there will be weapons. And it's for this reason that weapons have their usefulness. As much as some people would like to think so, it is impossible to negotiate with lunatics and madmen with out some show of force or military ability. Like Spalladino said, the ability for the U.S. and Russia to annihilate each other with nuclear weapons is what prevented the Cold War from escalating into something far worse. But, there are those, like terrorists for example, who are motivated by such radical ideologies, that killing and/or being killed seem to be the motivation behind their madness. How, could we ever hope to stand them down through negotiations alone? But, I believe the key reason why there will always be weapons and people willing to use them to kill other people, regardless of the reason, is man's willingness to defy God. As my father, who is a wonderful Christian man, has told me before, as long as man tries to solve his problems without God, he will always fail.
