Do you live on an island?

I live on an island I suppose. It is called Great Britain and it is situated in Europe. I am wondering if anyone else lives on an island, either large like Australia or small like Caye Caulker in Belize.

I used to live in one of the 7,100 islands of the Philippines. I'm not sure if that is still the right number, maybe they added, lost, or found some more islands to call their own. Travel Channel has this show about private islands. It would be nice to own one.

The Philippines is a country that I would love to go to. Wow! It has thousands of islands so it would be perfect for me and I could do much snorkeling. The show about private islands sounds excellent. Caye Caulker is lovely island that I went to in Belize. Very wealthy people have private islands there, how wonderful.

It would be nice to be in a private island right now. I've never been there but I would love to go to Palawan the next time I go back to the Philippines.

I used to live on the island of Jamaica, and also on one of the Hawiian Islands. But I was born and raised in Canada and not having the vastness of my country surrounding me, was rather a weird feeling so I always went home! LOL But now, at this stage of my life, I'd give my eye teeth to live on a self sufficient island and spend my days walking the beach lost in memories with no regrets attached.....

Wow! It must have been excellent when you lived in Jamaica and on one of the Hawaiian Islands. I have been to the island that has Honolulu on it and I really liked it. The author Robert Louis Stevenson moved to Samoa and I visited there. That for me would be the most perfect island location. I would love to go to Canada, especially to Vancouver and just off it coast is Vancouver Island. I hope that you find the island of your dreams.

I'm Australian and proud Maximax! Second biggest "Island" only to Greenland! Well the Island status is debatable seeing as my home country is a continent and all but it is surrounded entirely by water so island it is as far as I am concerned! I am also a British Citizen so I guess I can claim I am from two islands!

Australia always confuse me,I always thought it was a continent but i was told that's it's to small to be a continent and to big to be an island, someone actually said it's an island/continent is that true

I don't live on an island but I live on a peninsula, the state of Florida which is surrounded on three sides by water and connected to the rest of the country in the north. Florida isn't a very wide state which makes it very convenient to go to the beaches on both coasts, but it is a long state so the Keys are about five hours from me.

Thanks for your excellent description of Florida. Yes, the beaches with palm trees must look fantastic. The keys must be a perfect vacation location for you. I imagine that your climate is hot and sunny all year round. Peninsulas like that sound amazing and just as good as a tropical island.

You're very welcome. I have never been to the Keys but I've seen lots of pictures and hope to go down there soon. Florida is great during the winter months...it can get a little chilly during the night but warms up to the 80's by afternoon. In the summertime it gets pretty hot and sometimes humid but we usually have a nice breeze because we're a very flat state and the oceans are so close. I would love to live on a tropical island and plan to visit the Bahamas or Jamacia one of these days.

Well the UK is an island and that is where I have lived all my life! I did come very close to moving to an even smaller island, and that was when I applied for a transfer to the Isle of Wight back in 1993! I went for the interview but then I backed out at the last minute because I was cut off from everyone and everytime you wanted to cross the mainline you had to rely on a ferry, I wonder what would have happened in my life had I of accepted the transfer, makes you wonder doesn't it. But now I am still on the main island of the UK and probably always will be but that doesn't stop my sense of travel and adventure for other parts of the world, I guess it's the romany blood in me!

I live on mainland China, the east part of the country. I have never had a chance to visit an island, but I think that I will try in the future. Good day, friend.

It is great that you live near a island so you can visit it quite often. I love the ocean and its creatures. Coral reefs around a tropical palm fringed island are my favorite sort of destination. Views of the mountains are special but I don't have that. Instead I am three miles from the sea and I have a view of the countryside.

Hi maximax8! I live in the Philippines. The Philippine archipelago comprises 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, sharing maritime borders with Indonesia, Malaysia, Palau, the Republic of China (Taiwan), and Vietnam. However, I do live in a city in the northern part of the country which is the island of Luzon. I guess, I am not living near the waters but we do have a lot of beautiful beaches all around the country. Take care always..God Bless!
